Enjoyed my stay at this campsite
I was very pleased with this campsite. It was far enough where I didn't feel disturbed by the farm animals but close enough for me to play with them in the morning.
Carrie, the host, was very friendly, kind and thoughtful. She made sure to give us a gallon of water in case we needed it and told us there was a fire ring that's ready to use. She even set aside some woods for us to use but we foraged them instead to make life easier for her and because we enjoyed it and there was plenty dry wood to choose from.
This site also included a hot shower right by the farm (and I mean really hot water). Its outside, right next to the barn but there is enough coverage for privacy.
Overall, this is one of the best camping experiences I had. I really enjoy the farm animal, including exotic horses, fainting goats, chickens, etc and a private campsite that gave me a lot of privacy and peace.
It's also only a 20 min drive from Ricketts Glenn if you're looking to hike.
Wow, this farm was more than what I could've asked for. Our campsite was very private at the back of a couple of pastures and we were able to park our car right at the site (there was a loft available as well). We were supplied with dry fire wood as well as a gallon of water. In the morning we drove down to the barn and were given tea/coffee and a tour of the farm and animals. Carrie was very kind and answered any and all questions. Just be weary of walking in the fields without proper protection because of chiggers. We plan to return to volunteer!!
Barakah Heritage Farm was by far one of the best camping experiences I’ve had! The host Carrie was so great to my 3 friends and I! She provided us with water, firewood, morning coffee, suggestions of places to visit during our stay, very interesting knowledge about her farm, the animals she has, and much more. She’s also easy to contact and quick to respond if you have any questions. Carrie’s dog, Runa, is great she is so sweet and probably the most lovable dog you’ll meet! If you love real, outdoor camping you will love it here!
This is the campsite you want!
Incredible camping spot! Carrie was an excellent host, very attentive. The site itself was even better than described. Very private, well placed in the back of the farm. Park just next to the site. The site itself is just in the woods, and you can see all the stars out in the field. We played music until late, games, and cooked over the campfire. There's quite a bit of room for tents. 2 of us used hammocks. Hiked Ricketts Glenn (20m drive) during the day. There's a shower for your use, firewood available, and farm animals! Unbelievable views at sunrise and sunset. This is the spot you're looking for.
Remote, but not too remote
The site was perfect! Very quiet, remote and beautiful (especially at night). Carrie was SUPER helpful and gave us firewood and water. She also bailed us out when we forgot our mattress pump! Great time - will be back!
Excellent first camping experience ! Carrie was very welcoming and provided us with water and fire wood. The site was very private and beautiful. Definitely would camp here again!
Really neat farm and private, primitive camping just beyond the horse pastures. The only thing that would’ve made this experience better is detailed instructions for navigating to the house! (The address I got via hipcamp was for a next door neighbor, and I had no cell service!) Everything else was great. Super close to Ricketts Glen and Worlds End state parks!
Even more beautiful than the photos
The spot is much more beautiful than it looks in the photos. We would definitely come back. You can drive right up to the campsite. There's plenty of room and plenty of privacy. Since it's right on the meadow, you can choose between camping in the meadow and camping in the woods. Carrie gave us firewood and water upon arrival. It's a lovely place to stay.
