Duncan Island (The island the campground is on) is held in high regard by local indigenous tribes, water conservationists, forestry officials, fishermen, duck hunters and mushroom foragers.  The Whiskey Creek Campground is nestled among one of the last Sitka Spruce Forests in the northwest, as the flexible wood was used extensively to build aircraft during WW2. The potable water available at the campground is straight from a spring high in the hills across the river and is completely gravity fed.

Whiskey Creek Campground
Misleading camping
This site has been cancelled and the host never reached out. The campsite was the size of our backyard at home. I think we dodged a bullet by not staying here.

Great, private and affordable.
The site was nice and private! I was really impressed with how clean the portal potty was. My only complaint was that the camp table was broken so we used some wooden benches instead. David was really nice and helped us out when we ran into some troubles with our camp stove. The site was clean and the trampoline was really fun to have! There were some close neighbors, but they were not bothersome.

SHARED CAMPSITE
This is a shared camp site! It was not made clear to us that this site was shared, and we were all disappointed (the other party didn't know it was a shared space either). There was poison ivy everywhere, no river access, fireball bottles and cigarette butts all over the trampoline, the highway was very audible from the site, and we heard gunshots our second night there! We made the most of this experience but we were extremely disappointed and would not go back.

Not great
The site was not as private as we expected. It was close enough to the highway that we could see cars and hear the road constantly. The site was also not 10 sites; it was a lot that had a firepit in it. Granted, the lot was big, but definitely not as big as advertised. The trampoline was covered in cigarette butts and old fireball bottles, and definitely not safe to jump on. There was so much poison oak that we couldn't reach the river or pick berries, as it had formed into a thick wall. Not what we were expecting, but it was cheap and the stars were nice.

Whiskey Creek Campground
My husband and I enjoyed our stay on David's idyllic island. The way to Duncan Island is very picturesque. Tucked away from the main road, the camp site is hidden enough yet makes you feel like you aren't completely out of civilization. There is plenty of land to set up your site, we set up close to the raspberry bushes, it has a water pump, large campfire ring and a trampoline. We learned some amazing things about the island like the high quality of soil, plenty of opportunities for duck hunting or fishing; furthermore the water is gravity fed and with the perfect system of how the water flows and is fed to the island, you won't find mosquitos. Camping out early spring it was plenty warm during the day, and at night it got pretty chilly, but with our campfire going, it was comfortable. We also enjoyed stargazing around our fire! Ps- For the light sleepers know that there is the occasional noise from the highway.
