Pitch your tent under the stars on our 40-acre property, Welcome Back Woods, located in Colton, Oregon (50-mins from Portland). We moved to this land in 2015 after studying permaculture design and dreaming of cultivating our own homestead. In 2017, we closed out a 10-year Christmas tree lease and started restoring 15-acres with nitrogen-fixing oats and red clover. In 2019, we worked with Trout Mountain Forestry to do a selective thinning to improve the health of the 11 acres of forest. In fall 2020, we will start replanting trees for greater diversity. On the quest for food sovereignty, we have a flock of about two dozen chickens, a .5 acre organic vegetable garden, fruit tree nursery, greenhouse where we grew all the starts from seed and are in the process of building a barn. You are welcome to camp in the wide open back field, in the clearing in the woods, or rake out a spot in the woods of your choosing. You can use our slack lines at your own risk.. Follow our adventures on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram under Welcome Back Woods. Let us know if interested in signing-up for a slackline workshop with Will (as seen slacklining on National Geographic Channel's The Legend of Mick Dodge), reach out to us and we can coordinate that for an additional $15/person. We can also add on a $5/person farm fresh breakfast..

Beautiful land and amazing hosts!
Amazing and relaxing to camp here. The hosts are wonderful, kind, and attentive to everythibg you could need in a camping environment. There were a lot of spaces presented to me where I could set up—forested woods, an open area with a great view of fields, and near a large amount of fruit trees. There was a ton of woods to explore with wildlife all over the place. I had such a great stay, and I can't wait to head back.
We use this Hipcamp site as a homebase for doing research on nearby streams, and it is so lovely to have a reliable place to stay where we know the owners are respectful and so friendly. Meredith and her family were extremely welcoming and accommodating to our needs, as we had a few extra requests. There is a ton of space for dispersed camping and in a few months hopefully there will be a more established glamping spot available as well. The property has access to forest, a greenhouse, and large pastures to explore. You'll also no doubt be in for a gorgeous sunset too. We're extremely thankful for this spot!
Welcome back is a great place to escape the city. It’s a very peaceful property with cute animals everywhere. Roam in the woods, exercise, cook outside or say hi the animals. The possibilities are endless. The hosts were kind and hospitable.
Having access to a bathroom would definitely sweeten the deal. Either way, a great place to visit!
I loved the peaceful mornings by the creek and one night the clouds cleared so I could see the stars. So many delightful surprises -- the new glamping setup that Meredith let me try out (tent, bed, wood stove!), the chickens (esp the Silkies), the greenhouse where you can relax in a hammock inside from the rain, the friendly people. There's also a hand water pump for drinking and washing.
