Heavily forested mountain property is way off the grid in the Elkhorn Mountains and it neighbors National Forest. You can enjoy hiking, biking, climbing, hammocking, watching wild animals, star gazing at night (breath-taking), etc. But sorry, no sounds of the city. Campers have also enjoyed kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, and the mountain biking trails at Phillips Lake, which is a little over eight miles from TT. For trails, visit Trailforks.com and search Phillips Lake. Trails range from Easy to Black Diamond. This area used to have train tracks nearby, thus the road name Old Trestle Lane. Legend has it that "there's gold in them there hills". Visit nearby gold mining town, Sumpter (about 45 minute drive), while you're here. There is an authentic gold dredge you can walk through or you can schedule a steam powered train ride. http://www.sumptervalleyrailroad.org/index.html If you don't mind the hour drive, explore the history of Baker City and check out the Oregon Trail Museum just outside of town.

Great site. Private and well maintained. Do be advised and check weather as the last bit into the parking area brings you up a dirt road and back down. If it were raining we might not have made it even with awd.

Amazing experience. Matt was very responsive and gave excellent directions and provided assistance with any questions I had. He even researched my 2wd to ensure I can make it to the campsite (no issues). This is a hidden gem. So is Phillips lake nearby for paddle boarding and a lovely shoreline trail. 10/10 recommend.

If you’re looking for a remote spot that’s beautiful with access to outdoor fun and a host that’s quick to answer and very friendly, this spot is a keeper! My only suggestion would be that, if you have a dog that can only be off leash with a solid bit of distance between sites, these are a little closer together than I expected. Despite having a second night on leash, we had a great stay and would 100% come again.

It was beautiful up there, but very hard to find and get there.

Great and remote location. We drove a high clearance 4x4 but a capable driver non 4x4 standard clearance vehicle could make it, with cautious and smart driving practices.

My group had the pleasure of meeting Matt and only had kind things to say about him! He provides plenty of information about how to get to the sites. It’s an interesting spot, feels very remote and the nearby lake is quite fun. The walk from the parking spot to the site was definitely an experience but honestly added to it all. This is a great spot with a great host.
