The slough and Yaquina Bay were once the territory of watermen, occasional loggers, oystermen, but now the land around mine is almost entirely owned by a conservancy and a forest trust. Some old growth. Fine marshlands. Good mushrooming in the wet months, good kayaking all year. (Oct. through March, of course, we have frequent but usually light rain.) Ine almost never sees another boat on the slough and often none on the nearby bay.

Tidal Waterfront, Dock & Cabin
This site is beautiful and the kayaking on a beautiful sunny day was exceptional. At one point on my morning kayak after seeing flocks of egrets, cormorants, sandpipers, a great blue heron, osprey and a kingfisher, there were 20(yes I counted) seals following me. Wallace is a kind and tolerant host and put up with our dogs who were not perfectly behaved. The cabin is unfinished but it keeps the damp out and has water, a refrigerator, stove and microwave. Bring a camp kit.

That Cabin is interesting and the slough is cool. Mosquitos are horrible so come prepared. The slough and Yaquin Bay are great for paddling about while observing the flora fauna and water fowl. Overall I really enjoyed my time there and do plan to go back for a future visit.

Incredible Weekend! Wallace was the perfect host and the cabin was a serene getaway. The use of the kayaks alone was worth the whole trip. The gorgeous views and wood stove were icing on the cake :) It may seem a little daunting getting out to Wallace’s property, but he provides incredibly thorough directions that make the trip much easier. Definitely take the time to paddle out to the bay and see the wildlife living there! Thank you Wallace for allowing us to visit your little piece of paradise :)

I wish I could give this listing 10 stars. Wallace went above and beyond as a host. He is a kind soul that generously shares his love of nature and tranquility. The cabin was a nice bonus that kept us dry from the rain — Wallace even lit a fire for us to get the chill out of the air. The kids absolutely loved the zip line. There are also horseshoes and wiffle balls to play with. Option of canoeing made this place the best value all around. Wallace, thank you so much for everything. We did not want to leave.

Tidal Waterfront, Dock & Cabin
Myself, my significant other, and another couple (see Nina's review) ventured out to Wallace's cabin for a much needed relaxing weekend. Getting there in the dark was certainly a challenge – but with Wallace's detailed directions, we made it safe and sound. Wallace was incredibly generous and welcoming, even had a fire set up in the wood stove for us when we arrived! I woke up to a message from our host, with a spot-on accurate weather forecast, and he even had incredibly helpful suggestions on where to watch some of the epic, big waves rolling in that weekend. This piece of property is absolutely stunning in its beauty. Words just don't really do it justice. The cabin is set back from the tidal slough a bit, but you can see the water from the front door. It is definitely rustic, but it is warm and dry – and on a couple of mid-January nights, that is just what was in order. There are tons of books in the cabin as well, on backpacking, mushrooms, bushcraft and so many other topics. He was an awesome rain barrel catchment system set up, which is run on a pump system to the kitchen sink, and has a nice little four-burner propane stove which you can use as well. Wallace gave myself and Nina a kayak lesson, and was even kind enough to let my dog try and join in on the fun. The property itself make it well worth the trip back, but Wallace is genuinely one of the most generous, kind, welcoming hosts I have ever had the pleasure to meet. We'll most certainly back, and probably more than once.

Tidal Waterfront, Dock & Cabin
We had a wonderful stay at Wallace's tidal front cabin! Deep in the woods and extremely private, this little gem is very peaceful. It was an adventure to get there in the dark, I recommend planning your arrival during the day, but we made it safely. Wallace greeted us and had already lit a fire in the wood burning stove, so the cabin became warm and toasty quickly and kept us warm through the night as we added wood. In the morning we took in the breath taking views, explored the surroundings, kayaked, and enjoyed the birds and seals we saw in the bay. The cabin it self is, well rustic! Not many creature comforts and a little moldy. But the fire place is great, the propane stove works, as does the sink hooked up from the rain barrel. It's drier and warmer than a tent for sure! Wallace is a fantastic host, he gave us great directions, kayaking instructions, and was just so very kind, we felt right at home.
