Bender Estate was in a beautiful area near Corbett, OR, 5 minutes away from Dodge Park on the Sandy River (there was closer access, but it was a little more tricky). The camp site was spacious, flat and in a nice glade of trees. There was a nice pathway to the site from the road. Parking is not real close to the site, but Robert allowed us to park on the side of the road near the trail to make unpacking easier. The campsite had a couple amenities like a platform for the camp stove, and a tent with a compostable toilet (not glamorous, but handy in the middle of the night). Robert and his partner were very welcoming and even delivered some water jugs in the evening. The only drawbacks were a dirt road that ran just 20 feet or so away from the camp; not a busy road but occasional traffic. Also, there were a couple of vacant tents pitched at the campsite when we arrived for extra gear and such. We didn't need them so they just kind of made the site look less pristine than it actually was. Overall, neat site with nice hosts a lot of potential.

The site is on the smaller side, but it worked great for our group. The host, Robb, was great. He was very friendly upon our arrival and seemed willing to accommodate travelers needs.

Robert's place was a nice secluded stay away from the city. There is space for 2-3 average sized 4 person tents. Nearby the Sandy and is a gorgeous drive up to the site.
Would definitely go again!

Before arriving, call your host and he will tell you how to find the property - it is pretty straightforward and easy to find.
Once arriving, our host Rob greeted us with enthusiasm and showed us where to park and gave us a tour of the place. Nestled amongst the forest is a trail that led us a short ways down to a secluded camp area. The sunlight trickled in through the vivid green trees, birds chirped and fluttered around in the trees. In the campsite, there are a couple different spaces for you to choose from. One tent is already set up in camp with a little toilet inside. In the midst of camp, there is a bench available for sitting with your sweetheart or a friend. The camp is very 420 friendly, so feel free to bring some green of your own to this little hideaway in the forest. There is also a flat little area to set up a cooking stove for when you get hungry or need a little snack. We made tea and bagels for breakfast one morning and sat to watch all the birds dance about.

The camp was quiet and serene, we were not bothered by anyone or anything during our stay here. The camp spot is nestled in between a dirt mountain drive and around 6 am we heard about two cars drive by, but it was not very loud at all. When bringing our stuff down to camp, we were able to drive down to the camp trail and park to unload, but then we brought the car back up to the top of the hill and parked it there. It was a short minute or two walk to the camp spot - not bad at all, the trail in has been made smooth and is marked so you won’t get lost or trip up. We came in October and there was not a problem with mosquitoes or insects.

The surrounding area is absolutely lovely as well. If you are staying for a couple days, ask Rob about the cool places nearby for fun activities like hiking, biking, and other types of recreational activities you enjoy. It’s such a rad little spot tucked away into the mountains, the perfect place to go to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and to just relax in a beautiful spot in nature.

FIELD NOTES

- Great path through the woods
- Rob will show you where to park upon arrival, show you to camp site and then you can drive your car down, unload and drive it back up to the designated parking spot
- Bench in campground
- Tent with toilet available
- Secluded
- Quiet
- small platform for cooking on a flat and sturdy surface
- It is a little close to the road. In the morning about 6 am, I heard maybe 2 cars drive by. It wasn’t a loud noise though, other than that, there wasn’t a lot of traffic in the area and it was quiet.
- Magical forest

Excellent communication with host. Robert is a very pleasant person. The site is a private patch of woods. Not much there, but it was exactly what we wanted for a quiet night near Portland.
Google maps doesn't quite get you there, so you will need to communicate with Robert regarding exactly how to get there.
