I loved staying here, I can't wait to go back. If you're looking for a peaceful place to reconnect with the land away from the noise and tech, this is for you. The site is surrounded on all sides by mountains both close and in the distance. We hiked right from the site to watch the sunset, then traveled back down to watch the moonrise over the mountains. I have never seen a moon rise like that, truly amazing. If you can manage it, go during the full moon. Keep in mind - the winds are INTENSE at night so I definitely recommend staying in the yurt unless your tent is super sturdy. We stayed here in early July when the temps were in the 80s during the day and dropped down to the 30s at night so bring layers even in the summer. There is no natural shade so if you're not staying in the yurt keep that in mind - at a high elevation the temps are cooler but the sun is more intense. There were usually 1-2 bars of cell service (I have Verizon) so enough for a call or texts if you're patient but not enough to run most apps. But I recommend downloading the stargazer app before you go because the night sky is spectacular!
