Looking for a private camping experience for the 2017 Solar Eclipse? Everything else sold out or too crowded for your tastes? Look no further! We live in a brand new home in the Illahee Golf Course community in Salem, Oregon (smack dab on the 45th parallel!). Our community is at the edge (literally) of the city limits. Our neighbors across the street have a farm and it's obscured by mature trees. Our yard is fenced and we have a covered, lit patio with access to a charcoal grill, camp stove, ice chest, camp tables and chairs. We even have the ability to screen in the patio area (or your tent site) if you wish. Water and electricity is available in the backyard. A shower/toilet tent will be provided for your comfort.

The eclipse will be entirely visible from our backyard with no obstructions. The odds of it being cloudy in mid August are almost nil. You will have the backyard all to yourself for the time you're here.

If you're an outdoor enthusiast, we live 3 miles from Minto Brown Island Park, which is a wildlife refuge popular with cyclists, runners, bird watchers, etc. You can put your kayak or canoe in to the Willamette River less than 2 miles away. A popular route to kayak is to Rogue (the beer!) hopyards and taphouse in Independence, Oregon, which is 13 miles from our house - it can also be biked if you're an enthusiastic cyclist. Farther afield, we have dozens of wineries and breweries to explore. Once you're done with the eclipse, you can pack up and explore the wonders of Oregon! We have gorgeous waterfalls, lakes, rivers, mountains, and beaches. We're a 45 minute drive to the coast and a 30 minute drive to Silver Falls State Park. We can offer many suggestions on amazing outdoor adventures if you need them.
