The vibe at North Mountain Falls Mt. Hood
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
THIS is what Hipcamp is about. Period. Simon and Rachel have over eighty acres of mountain property near Mt. Hood they're extremely excited to share! When you're there, you feel as though you've found the most incredible hidden gem... because you have. I've never camped in a more beautiful location. Seriously. The camp spots are RIGHT next to the creek barreling down the hill from the perfect waterfall. This is the kind of thing you would be thrilled to discover after a ten mile backpacking trip, but it's right here!! A mere 5 minute walk up the hill from the parking area will take you to your magic. Stacked wood is provided for when the fire ban ends (we will be back!), as well as convenient areas to sit and enjoy your meal, and hiking paths that will take you miles deep into the property. This is the most PERFECT location. We dug a hole for our business as the provided toilet was a bit too far down the hill, but Simon is planning to build some facilities for toilets and possibly showers. Simon sent his son up to inquire if we needed help carrying our gear down with the tractor they used to help us on the way up, but we opted for a multi-trip trek since we'd narrowed down our pile the night before. Although it rained on us all morning, I would have stayed to enjoy the deeper colors of beauty that leave you awe-struck and DEFINITELY wanting to return.
Big thanks to Rachel and her family for hosting us. We really appreciated you help moving our stuff up to the camp site. The site is amazing. So nice to be by the creak and to be all alone so our kids could be kids. We look forward to doing it again next year.
What a gorgeous place to camp! We stayed here for a long weekend and LOVED it. The spot was totally secluded and peaceful. Light filtering in through trees and moss, lovely waterfall just a short walk away. The stream and woods helped the site stay quite cool despite high temps in the area. Rachel & Simon were great hosts, super friendly and helped us carry our stuff up the hill. I'm afraid camping here has ruined us for the KOAs of the world! Will be back.
I was dreaming of a place not to far from my home to take my two Giant Great Danes and myself camping. I wanted privacy and I got just that. The host was super helpful and answered all my questions I had. If you’re looking for the perfect private Oregon camping experience this is the place! The waterfall was amazing and peaceful. The family was wonderful to me. Super friendly dogs on site. I had an emergency on my last day and they helped me get up and out of the site. Unfortunately my trip was cut short but I’m having a redo with my girls!
This campsite was the most unexpected delight. We booked the site just 2 days before without any issue. The hosts greeted us upon arrival and were so kind and accommodating. The campsite is tucked away on their property next to a waterfall and creek so we felt safe but secluded and truly in nature (can’t get this kind of access with most drive up campsites). There are a couple trails back by the campsite which are more overgrown so we drove a quick 10 min down to Old Salmon river which was super convenient and beautiful on a sunny day. The hosts were so sweet and let us enjoy the sun down on the meadow by their home—an excellent place for catching the sunset or watching the stars at night. Their dogs are so lovely and we had a great time hanging out with Gabby all afternoon. All together this was an incredible experience and Rachel and her family are so kind for sharing their beautiful home with us! Thanks for a great time, we’ll be back to see the cabin when it’s finished!
Three of us had a great time camping at this spot! What a wonderful family (including the adorable dogs) – very welcoming and helped us haul our stuff up to the campsite. The location is beautiful and feels really private, and it was really relaxing to be right next to the waterfall/creek. We hope to be back soon!
Amazingly beautiful campsite! Rachel and her family were super friendly, welcoming, and responsive. They helped us transport all of our gear to the camping area right when we arrived. There was a generous amount of fire wood and a built in fire pit w/grill top perfect for cooking. Also a picnic table to food prep! The constant sound of the waterfall was so relaxing. Will definitely come back again!
