Camp in the Forest Retreat
A great time!
June was very welcoming for our 2 night stay, there was lots of space for us to set up our tents and tables and our cars. We enjoyed hanging out at lots of different places nearby with river access and fun rocks to jump off of. We also used some fresh blackberries for pancakes which were delicious. Overall a great experience, the compost toilet worked well and we all had a wonderful camping trip!

Camp in the Forest Retreat
Good retreat spot
June was really responsive and helpful. Close to river and neighbors but really quiet. I appreciated her follow up answering questions…

Camp in the Forest Retreat
Involuntary music festival
I appreciated the beauty of the spot and initially it felt very serene and peaceful. Unfortunately you’re very close to the main road which is loud as well as a group of neighbors that have absolutely no problem playing music at the highest volume throughout the entire day and evening. It was a holiday weekend so maybe not like this all the time. They did not take request by the way. They did turn off the music around 10 or 11 PM. Music was played throughout the entire weekend. I love music. Though if you’re not able to have any choice in the type of music it can make you crazy. On the other hand I was exposed to some music I never ever imagined existed. In addition to very old very bad glam rock. Also the composting toilet is nothing more than a bucket with no seat. So bring your own portable lug a loo. I feel like if there had been more than one group campsite there the bucket would not be sufficient. When trying to find a place to go to the bathroom outside of the composting toilet there aren’t very many places that aren’t in full view of the driveway coming in. Gives a whole new meaning to the feeling exposed. The hard part is that you can’t choose your neighbors. I personally didn’t feel comfortable going over and asking them to turn the music down so I doubt anybody else does.

Camp in the Forest Retreat
Best as a Pull Through
The camp area had nice wide pull through areas for a self-contained motor home, but for tenting it was not as ideal. Quiet & Private: Neighbors were pretty close by (but there were hedges as mentioned). Forest Retreat: Not far off the main road that had traffic throughout the night. Toilet: A tent & a bucket? Not a port-a-potty. Nice location though and close to the river (but much along the river was private property though). June was super helpful and interested. 5 stars in that department.

Camp in the Forest Retreat
June was friendly & quick to respond, though she said she was out of town when we were there so we didn’t get to meet her. This location is just a 15 min walk down the street to the most beautiful waterfalls, Wildwood Falls. We spent some time there one of the days and we spent the other day at Dorena Lake as there is no creek, river access from her property and it was 80 degrees and my kids wanted to splash around. Which is about a 15 min drive. The camp spot is really just her driveway but surrounded by big trees and semiprivate behind some blackberry overgrowth. I got a lot of blackberry bush cuts on my legs and so would not recommend small kids or dogs at this location because they are popping up everywhere along that area. I snipped back a few by our camp so we could walk a little easier. The neighborhood leading up to this spot is a bit rundown and I almost left because I felt unsafe but the other hip camper there was so nice and safe so I felt safer w her there so we decided to suck it up. There’s no cell service anywhere near there. It smelled soooo nice there from the trees and grass and spring & we saw lots of shooting stars. Overpriced compared to other hip camps that have amenities & at least space to sprawl or explore on the property.. This has none.

Camp in the Forest Retreat
Forest retreat
Forest retreat was nice. Mountainside wiew with large spots to camp divided by trees and blackberry bushes. Its in a neiborhood so there were some normal sounds like motorcycles and a few dogs. Lots of quiet time at this retreat. But sad that a burn ban started so early there at this time.
