As soon as I set foot on this property, I knew I loved it. Pulling off of the highway into a lush, green, forested area, the air that filled our noses was deep and refreshing. The owners, Stephen and Tamara, were so warm and welcoming. They'd even started a fire for us inside the tipi to keep us toasty out of the rain and encouraged us to eat veggies from their garden. After taking us on a lengthy tour of the amenities, they let us loose. But there's no end to exploring this place, thanks to the many trails and groves to discover! Thick, green forest, an outdoor solar shower, a river with multiple beaches, a vegetable garden, countless mushrooms, a waterfall, and yes, a tipi. Our short stay here will be hard to top. I'd jump at the chance to visit again!

The Tipi Retreat was an awesome experience! The weekend we went rained pretty heavily, so we lucked out by booking the tipi shortly before our planned trip. There were four adults and we felt like there was plenty of room to hang out inside. Having the wood-burning Chiminea was great! It kept us warm and gave us one of the best things about camping—sitting around the campfire—and allowing us hang out together :)

The property is beautiful, as it is nestled right next to the Nahelem River and under lots of tall trees. We even drove 20 minutes west to Manzanita for lunch one afternoon and enjoyed the coast.

Tamara and Stephen were very responsive and the space was just as it was described on Hipcamp. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for fun and different surroundings.

I was incredibly disappointed in our trip to Nehalem for this reservation and felt like I had been taken advantage of. I had originally purchased the 2-night stay for my husband's birthday about 3 months prior to the date. Was super excited by the reviews, anticipating a wonderful little place to get away and enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, nothing was as it was described. Originally, we were supposed to meet Tamara and Stephen at the site. A couple of days prior to arrival, I messaged them about early check-in and was told 1 pm was the earliest available due to their work obligation. We gave them a head's up as we headed to the Tipi but about an hour from the site we received a text from them stating they could not wait for us due to a graduation event in Portland. We were never given a time for check in other than the 4 pm stated on Hipcamp and we arrived at 3:30 pm. It's very possible they cancelled the meet simply due to the fact that the site wasn't up to the price charged and they knew it. When we got there, the Tipi had not been taken care of during the rainy months and the "futons" were too wet to use, leaving the inside dank and musty. The garden shown on Hipcamp wasn't a garden at all, just weeds about 3 1/2 feet tall inside an enclosure. The shower was available but there wasn't a solar heater anywhere near the area as claimed and once you used the outdoor toilet, the bucket was a horrible attraction for all the bugs in the area, another indication that the place wasn't being kept up. You can deal with one issue but when a place is being "sold" on its amenities and those amenities do not exist that's more like "bait and switch". We stayed one night and left early the next morning to stay along the coast. I was going to just ignore all of this and chalk it up to a learning experience but I realized that others would be taken advantage of if I didn't say something. It would be nice if we got our money back for at least one night but realize that I should have written to Hipcamp back in June. At the time, waking up Saturday morning on my husband's birthday, I only wanted to make things exceptional for him. Complaining about the gift I had gotten wasn't going to do that so I let it go and ate the $200 failure. Tamara and Steven need to be realistic and change the price to reflect what the site really has to offer. Probably shouldn't be higher than state campground pricing, especially since they can offer indoor plumbing.

If you are looking for a unique and special experience this is a place for you! The teepee is beautiful and spacious. We stayed with our 4 young children and they loved the teepee, the campfire and being able to hike to the river and waterfall nearby. The compost toilet and solar shower were also new experiences for us all. There is also an organic garden there. Manzanita is a short drive away for coffee, grocery store and restaurants. This was also a great location to take day trips to Cannon Beach and the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Both are roughly 30 min from Nehalem Tipi. This stay was one of our stops during our very first trip to Oregon from the SF Bay Area. We will not forget it as a family.
