Julie and Nathan and all their staff were the perfect hosts for the Total Eclipse at Right Lane Ranch. She even gave us a short tutorial on their ranching methods, encouraging sustainable agriculture for now and the future. It was a memorable stay and it was clear our hosts went way beyond to ensure everyone had the best experience. Mike and Susan from Virginia.

Great people. They did an awesome job of accommodating a large amount of eclipse viewers. The property is beautiful. Cows, adorable. All around great experience.

The good:
Super friendly hosts, falling asleep to the sound of the river, plenty of port a potties (and well stocked with tp).
The bad:
Tall leg-slicing weeds, lumpy and uneven ground (not many good spots for tents).
The ugly:
Cow patties.

The hosts put a lot of time and effort into getting things ready for a large influx of guests and it showed. Having the amenities available (food truck and enough port a potties so you don't have long waits) and access to the river and beautiful views was really nice. I would definitely stay there again (but in a rooftop tent, or rv, not on the ground).

This place was awesome! We came for the eclipse. The hosts were personable and helpful while also making us feel welcome. They have access to the river on their property and some lovely shade trees nearby. For the eclipse they really tried to make it special and it showed. They brought in vendors, a local beer brewer, awesome fried fair food and a great local coffee roaster for the morning. They even got the "good" port-a-potties with hand washing stations. We would love to come back to Right Lane for casual camping and highly recommend this place!

Waiting for totality on the ranch!

We stayed for the Eclipse so not a normal camping experience. It was fine for what it was a shade less open field with not enough porta potties that were not emptied or cleaned.
They did a nice job otherwise. If you were a vendor they let you camp in the shade under some trees. And the field was right near the John Day river with nice areas for splashing and wading to cool off.
Had a very nice time with nice people but left a day early because we needed to use a bathroom!

Such a beautiful spot to camp! Stunning views of the surrounding hillside and a stargazers dream. We were there for the eclipse but got a bonus with the end of the perseid meteor shower. Lots of shooting stars. Not to mention the absolutely amazing alpine glow at sunset. Nathan and family couldn't be any more wonderful and their sustainable farming practices are top notch! Already looking forward to our next trip back. Thanks!

Beautiful little spot right on the John Day. It's hot in August so having a place to stick your feet in the water and cool off is huge bonus! Not to mention the hours you'll spend trying to catch those wiley crawfish.Right Lane Camping

The owners of the property took care of everything for the event. There were enough port-a-potties, food vendors and the cattle were moved to a safe location away from all of the scientists, IT people, eclipse enthusiasts and their families. The owners provided a tour of the ranch educating guests about the ins and outs of ranching and raising cattle (hard work!). The field that was used for camping was close to a stream that was enjoyed by many. Over all a great experience and excellent hosts!

Had an excellent experience staying here for the eclipse!!! Nathan and Julie were great hosts and were well prepared for the people they hosted on their property. Even with 100 tent/parking sites, the eclipse itself still felt intimate and their ranch was the perfect location in nature to view it! Being at least an hour from any major city also lent this location to the most amazing star viewing!!! I have never seen a more clear Milky Way!! Would love to return again for any of your future events. Thank you for opening your home and property to us!!!
