It all started many years ago when Christie met a few beautiful wooly pigs on a trip to Hungary. She adored them at the time, but didn't give them much thought.Years later, living in Portland, Oregon and married to Engineer Josh Doss, the couple were urbanites enjoying their local food scene. They were inspired by the farm-to-table movement and wanted to be a part of it. They began searching for land and determined that the gorgeous wooly Hungarian Mangalitsa were what they wanted to raise. With their young family in tow, the Dosses discovered their own little slice of heaven in the Northern Willamette Valley, about an hour West of Portland, Oregon. It's on 22 acres in the foothills of the Coastal Range, high above the valley, that some of the world's tastiest pork is raised.
We have plenty of space for tent campers and also have a nice rv that can sleep 4-6 adults and 2 bunk beds for 4 kids.

The vibe at The Sun Rises Over Mt Hood
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The views were exceptional and the sunset lit up the valley each night. At night the stars shone bright. The main hosts were out of town when we visited and those left in charge were accommodating as best they could be, with some minor hiccups, such as them not being ready for us with the cleaning. Little things, like where to take trash and recycle, were unclear.
We enjoyed using the RV exclusively. That was appreciated since no fires were allowed at the time. There is a yurt now that looks fantastic, but I still don't see its availability on the listing. When you book your stay, ask about that option if you are interested.
