The vibe at Horse Rescue Ranch RV/Car Camping
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The hosts were so kind and helpful! The campsite was right along a creek in between two horse pastures. Listening to the water and horses was magical. They have hammoks over the little creek to relax in. You can can pet and love on baby horses and bigger horses as well. The farm hands are so nice and listening to the stories of these rescued horses was so neat! You can also help feed the horses. There are plenty of areas to pitch your tent. The creek is refreshing to sit in and lovely to listen to as you camp under the stars and listen to the horses in the pastures while you fall asleep.
Alexandra was so sweet and welcoming. She made us feel so at home on the ranch. They told us a lot about the history of the horse rescue which was really neat. They even let us go pet the horses which was awesome. What a great experience!!
Wow! My friends and I loved staying here! The ranch was beautiful and the ranch hands were very friendly. We especially enjoyed meeting the horses. Our stay was stress-free and comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here.
The Horse Ranch was amazing! The hosts were gracious, the ranch hands were all so helpful and friendly, and the location was perfect! Be sure to bring shoes or boots with you so you can go in and meet the horses. While we were there, they had about 50 wild horses with several young foals, just born this spring and they let us pet them.
The little irrigation canal runs through the property like a creek. We even saw a mama and baby duck swimming in there.
Also, when they say to pitch your tent where the grass is dead, you should listen. I thought the weeds were green because they were drawing from the irrigation channels on either side, not from a sprinkler on the other side of the fence. I was proven wrong at 7:30 AM the next morning.
Really great hosts. Very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful views. Sites were a little close to the roads and close together, but altogether very enjoyable and so many beautiful horses.
We had such a great time camping on the ranch! Our hosts were so accommodating and fun, and the horses are beautiful!! Definitely would recommend for camping in the Bend area.
Great basecamp if you want to explore Bend nearby. I may have been a little worried about the smell of camping on a horse ranch, until I stayed there. Animals that are cared for this much DO NOT smell. You'd have to set up right next to or inside of a corral on a humid day to be bothered by it.
Camp sites are on the front yard of the property, well spaced along a small stream and waterfall. Hosts and ranch hands are friendly and knowledgeable. Take time to visit and feed the rescues - they stock apples and carrots for you. Our three kids did not want to leave the horses and open space to play and explore.
Our brief stay with Alexandra far exceeded our expectations. The photos of the site do not—cannot—convey the beauty of the property. We arrived to a stunning sunset over the meadow facing west, and had a lovely time meeting the animals: cats, a bunny, some chickens, a goat, and a whole lot of horses. The campsites were quiet (despite being directly next to the road, there are almost zero cars passing past sunset), and the irrigation canal a peaceful soundtrack. Our only wish was that we had more than an evening to spend here.
