BRING A PAIR OF SLIPPERS TO WEAR IN THE GERS.   These are 2 Original Mongolian Gers, direct from Mongolia. They can accomadate up to 4 adults, it is best 2 adults/w or without kids. These are 1st class, pristine and original.  Booking can start on January 15th and until the snow melts off in late May, it can be booked by snow shoers/cross country skiers/hikers and snowmobilers.

One can cross country ski or snowshoe, hike, ride bikes or snowmobiles.  There are several places in Sunriver that rent snowmobiles.  It is 7 miles in, up hill the 1st several miles, which means a 14 mile round trip in and out.  You need to be in good shape, bring plenty of water and energy bars.  I will leave it up to you to search the rental companies out.  I can tell you, you need to plan ahead if you are anticipating renting snowmobiles.

After June 1st, 2021 they can be booked for camping.  Each Ger will have a designated fire pit in the summer as long as there is not a fire ban.    It is less than a 1 minute walk down to the lake with plenty of lake access.

Each Ger has a single/twin bed bunk bed style.  Easily and comfortably sleeps 2 adults.  Good comfortable mattresses/w mattress covers. Sleeping bags are provided and pillows are provided only in the winter.  You need to bring in a sleeping bag insert.  REI and the like sell them.  There is a sleeper sofa/full size that can accomidate a couple easily.  Once again, a sleeping bag and a pillow will be provided but you must have an insert to sleep in.  If you don't you will have to buy one from me or bring your own bag.

This is semi-primitive.  No running/drinking water.  There will always be at least 2 5 gallon buckets of water in each Ger out of the lake.  The cooking area includes a 2 burner propane stove top/small microwave/small counter top oven/coffee pot/tea pot/all cooking utensils and pots and pans, crockpot, waffle iron, paper plates and paper bowls, paper cups and coffee cups.

Dry goods such as pastas/various canned food/dry breakfast cereals/powdered milk, coffee, teas/ect are provided only in the winter.  A variety of canned drinks will be available and plenty of bottled drinking water only in the winter.  You can bring fresh vegies/fresh fruits/fresh sweets.  I advise to bring in pre-cooked meals.  I am trying to do this in such a way that snow shoers, cross country skiers and hikers don't have to pack much in.  I will also accomidate snow mobilers which can bring the kitchen sink in if they want to.  There is a small round table that can accomidate 4, 2 small lounge chairs.  Each Ger has a wood stove with plenty of fire wood available.

There is power to each Ger with 5 or 6 dual plug ins in the floor.  Plenty of lighting with daylight coming thru the top.  There is Wifi available and a land line phone in the cabin.  There is a bench to sit on to take winter clothing and boots off, a strong clothes type hanger for the heavy stuff and a smaller lighter weight clothes type hanger for the lighter stuff.

There is an outhouse with a lighted walk way.  No heat in the outhouse, but during the daylight hours, "What a View".

No shower facilties.

It is winter and you always need to be prepared coming in and going out.

The entrance is just before Mile Post 16, taking a left is marked with Orange Flagging tape.  It is a little over 1/4 mile in.

Each Ger has a theme.  One is "The Genghis, highlighting Genghis Kahn/Mongolia and the other is "The Osprey".

I am agreeable to meeting at the Locked Gate at Mile Post 10 and bring in bags/etc.  I need $20 bucks to cover the Gas in and out.

I am a adovocate of the "5 P's.  Proper Preperation Prevents Poor Performance.  So think about what you are doing and plan for it.

I COVID spray after each cleaning thouroughly.

This experience was everything I had hoped for and more! The Ger is SO COOL! There’s really nothing like it. We stayed warm with the wood stove going and slept very comfortably on the bunks. The kitchen had everything to cook up a full meal plus some.
The Osprey overlooks the lake from the front door and is only a short walk down to the shoreline. David is probably the most accommodating host I’ve met. He sat and had a cup of tea and told us his story, which is quite interesting! Also we appreciated the tea 😊 highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from it all for awhile.

The whole trip was amazing, my girls and I snowshoed up and David packed in our gear, that was so helpful. The location was perfectly serine snow makes everything seem even more peaceful and quite.
The Ger was so comfortable, slept three of us perfectly. The wood stove was sooo good after the long trek in. The kitchen set up made glamping possible had everything pots, pans, toaster oven microwave, cook stove. Even had extras in case you forgot spices or needed a hot cocoa or tea.
David the host made us feel welcome and very comfortable. Stormy his pup was very sweet and played well with our dog.
We will for sure be booking here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for that perfect workout/relax balance.

David has created a magical winter wonderland. We had such an amazing trip and the Gers had everything we needed for a great time. We were never cold, and loved all the fun board games! The cross-country ski in was tough for us because we were totally newbies, but once we got the hang of it we really enjoyed the exercise. It's a super fun adventure and the Gers themselves are in such a beautiful, pristine location with gorgeous lake views and good access to more fun cross-country skiing around the lake. David is an amazing Host and was super helpful and responsive. If you're able to take a trip to the Gers, DO IT!!! <3

This is a one-of-a-kind, gorgeous experience. The ger (Mongolian yurt) is right next to the lake with amazing views. We skied in and out and it was great to have a warm fire and kitchen after a few hours in the snow. It's also so nice to be able to bring our dog with us. We will camp here again for sure. David is kind and helpful and wants his guests to enjoy his beautiful backyard.

We had a magical weekend at David's yurt and feel lucky that we got to experience this winter wonderland. The yurt was very comfortable for our group of 3 and had everything we needed (and more) for a cozy getaway. David has really created a special place tucked away in the Newberry Crater. It was a winter adventure we'll always remember.

Enjoyed the lovely setting of the Mongolian Ger on East Lake. We happened to pick 3 beautiful days, sunshine and great snow conditions. Would recommend this experience to anyone who wants a change in pace. We found everything to our satisfaction and enjoyed reading one of David's books. Looking forward to booking next season.
