Set up tent steps away from the Crooked River. The area for setting up tents space approx. (20x50 sq. ft) which we figure will stand 2-3 tent spots with plenty of space in between. The total river frontage is ~350 ft. Spend the day floating, fishing, swimming in the river or just sit and watch the many birds and other wildlife that make the river their home. In the evenings, enjoy a campfire (as permitted due to county fire restrictions) using a re-purposed washing machine drum. Firewood is available on site for a fee or bring your own.
The river has an area for swimming and or fishing right on the property or a short drive upriver for some fabulous fly fishing spots. There is a convenient bike/walk path into the town of Prineville and there is a great network of biking paths around the town, as well as great off road cycling areas. Our property is bordered on one side by the Crooked River and on the other side by a two-lane US Hwy that is not real busy but traffic does go by pretty fast and is not fenced so keep that in mind if you have kiddos.

The vibe at Crooked River Rustic

Bonita and her family were super welcoming at their little river hideaway. It was over 90 degrees that day so we took the opportunity to get our feet wet and watch the minnows swim past. Several mature trees on the property provide ample shade. We even found a couple for throwing up our hammock. They have patio furniture and a fire pit in a group setting and a second fire pit over by the tent spaces. Be sure to say hi to Ariel, a sweetheart pitbull ambassador.
