Cedar Meadow
The best Hipcamp experience!
If you're looking for a remote camping option, this is the place! My college-age daughter & I stayed at a handful of places over the course of a week, and this was our favorite.
We had a convenient parking spot right in the driveway and a short walk along a winding path to get to the campsite. Once at the campsite, we didn't feel as though we were in someone's backyard, which is precisely what we were seeking. Cecilia was super helpful in advance of and during our stay, but we were otherwise left to ourselves to enjoy the great outdoors. We will definitely be visiting again when we are in the Ashland area.

Cedar Meadow
Lots of poison oak
The trail leading up to this spot is a quick walk, but it is not an easy one, especially while carrying things. It is very steep dirt that makes you take little baby steps coming down so you don't slip. Additionally, it was very narrow since the side of the path has a lot of poison oak on it. I was extremely paranoid I was going to get it on myself or my gear. It was the most poison oak I had seen anywhere people pay to go to. If they weren't going to remove it, they could have at least spray painted it so it was all very visible. The campsite itself was nice enough, but the surrounding area where I would go to pee had some more spots of poison oak. The toilet is a toilet bucket with a bag inside, so it wasn't ideal for peeing. Mostly just there in case of a number two emergency. Also a lot of mosquitoes, but bug spray was kindly provided.

Cedar Meadow
The site is about 100 yards through a steep ravine on a narrow, steep path surrounded by poison oak. There is no water at the site. The level area was not large enough for our 4 person tent. The "porta-pottie" is actually a 5 gallon bucket with a plastic seat and a plastic bag to catch the waste. The bag was more than half full when we arrived. There is a large industrial cannabis grow just uphill from the site which makes noise (music, cars, talking) at all hours.

Secluded meadow in the woods.
Beautiful setting. Cecilia was accommodating and helpful making sure we were all set up with what we needed (even after a later than expected arrival by us).

Wonderful stay!
It was a very easy process once I met Cecilia! She showed me how to get to the meadow and where to get water, and gave me some delicious, fresh chicken eggs. We didn't cross paths for the rest of the weekend, but she was very responsive and helpful, and I got to meet her dog and goats. Google maps was not very helpful when finding the place -- the road goes much farther than the map shows. So just remember the address and make sure to stay on the main dirt road (sometimes private driveways look like the main road). And AT&T gets very little to no reception up there so plan accordingly. Verizon works fine. I would highly recommend!

Rustic, affordable, cute dogs
Great simple accommodations for the price point… Not too far off the five freeway. I will say that hiking to the camp spot was a little unanticipated. If you have a lot of gear it’s definitely gonna be a hassle to get it to and from the campsite. In my head I was expecting to pull up and camp out of the car, but again this is somewhere between a hike in and drive up spot. It’s a pretty steep ravine, may be difficult for older or disabled folks to make it. There was enough space for two tents, definitely plenty more for hammocks. Once at the site, it is fairly private and serene.
