Beautiful spot on the river
Had an amazing time staying here with a buddy for the weekend. The address is marked on the road so it was pretty easy to find and I was pointed to the location of my campsite when I arrived. There's a property dog or two that'll stop by from now and then to say hi, both were friendly.
It's a beautiful piece of property with a section of the pristine Nehalem river running through it and the river area itself is very private. There's some small to decent sized rainbow trout littering the shore if you like to fish and a ton of small crawdads that are sure to grow into a pretty healthy size soon enough. The river also has a bunch of crystals and minerals if you know what to look for.
The host was extremely accommodating and made sure we had an amazing time on his property. Good amount of kindling for fires in the forest and if you select the option to add firewood he'll have some at your campsite.
5/5 will be visiting again!
Not my cup of tea
Perfectly nice host with good dogs and great river access, but I like privacy when I camp and there was none here. I didn't end up staying because all attempts to nap by the campfire were thwarted. I usually go to much more remote places to camp, so it definitely isn't my speed. I think this would be great for groups and or families, though.
You’ll love it!
Lovely hosts, idyllic setting, loads of river frontage to roam. We’ve made several visits to Awesome Acres and loved every minute, every time. Campsites are dispersed with private fire pits and are close to the river. For a quick getaway from town, I couldn’t think of a better spot. Ideal for families, people with dogs, swimming hole aficionados, and rock lovers. Hesitant to write too glowing a review so this little gem doesn’t become too popular!
Wonderful spot for relaxing evening
My partner and I stayed one night at Awesome Acres Riverside Retreat with our two dogs. We found Travis mowing and cleaning up the sites when we arrived, and he graciously showed us around the property with his little girl and their super friendly and sweet dogs. After we saw the lay out of the sites, we asked if we could switch to site 3 instead of the one we initially booked, not a problem on Travis' end! We chatted later in the evening and got to know a bit more about Travis, he is a great guy!
The trail to the river is short, and it was amazing to be able to walk up and down the river, catch a few crawdads and a small trout, and let the dogs run and swim. He even told us it was fine to have a fire by the river, so we did that and cooked dinner down there, it was great! The camp sites each have a small card table and fire pit, but not much else. Port'oPotty easily accessible from any camp site. While the camp sites themselves don't have a ton of privacy or space from other sites, our time, besides sleeping which was nice due to plenty of flat ground, was spent wondering the property and the river so didn't mind not having 100% privacy.
Great weekend fun!
Host was very approachable and came to the site when we came in, made sure we had all we needed. Showed me around where to go fishing with kids. Place was very clean, quiet and anybody looking for quick weekend camping should definitely come here. Added bonus = stargazing during the night is absolutely recommend to do it. Will come back again for sure.
Fun times at awesome acres
Travis, the host was very friendly and attentive. The site is very fun and great for kids and dogs. The river area is pleasant safe for kids. We had a wonderful time and hope to come visit again next year!
Labor day weekend
Not what I expected at first, but we had a great time! The host Travis went above and beyond to make sure we had enough room and worked hard to clear up more space. The River was fun to swim in and the host provided some tubes and a big floating Island. All the kids from all the sites were all playing together in the river. I even caught a nice trout of the banks of campsite 1. This is his first year but the property has alot of potential and he has a lot of great ideas. He came down with his wife and kids at night to check in on everyone. The real host is Sheeba the German Shepard that patrols the whole area.
