Eels Lake is a lake located between the Kawartha lakes and Haliburton Highlands region of Ontario, Canada. Eel Cow, an Ojibwe chieftain, for which the lake is named, claimed this area and surrounding land as his family's hunting and fishing territory in the early 1800s. The many islands and bays found in the lake make for ideal smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and Rock bass habitat. The lake also has natural population of lake trout, walleye and yellow perch. In order to help preserve the natural lake trout population of Eels Lake, slot size and winter ice fishing restrictions are in place. Echo Shores is located in Unicorn Bay on Eels Lake in Highlands East.  The cottage stands on the Canadian Shield with beautiful views of crown land across the bay.  A rustic and charming cottage experience - the perfect city escape!  Includes 2 separate bedrooms, 1 pullout sofa,  kitchen, bathroom, TV, DVD player etc.  Get a true taste of outdoor living with a trip to the warm outdoor shower!  PLEASE NOTE: if you are bringing a pet, please let us know in advance. We charge a pet fee of $35 per NIGHT, PLEASE add this as an extra at the time of booking. ONLY 1 PET PLEASE. The cottage is right on the lake so the activities are endless. Activities nearby include swimming, canoeing, hiking, wildlife watching, paddleboarding etc.  As you'll be spending a lot of time outdoors, we suggest you bring hand sanitizer, bug spray, and sunscreen.  There is a Canoe and Paddleboat for you to use.   4 adult universal life vests (rated for 90lbs +) for you to use will be located in the dining tent on deck.  For your safety, please take the bailing bucket boat safety kit with you (located in the Cabin). Summer is always fun at Echo Shores as is Autumn.  Highlands East Autumn colours are absolutely stunning and a favourite time to visit the area for  many Photography and Hiking enthusiasts.  There are many Artist Studio Tours around the area (look at our photos for dates).  What a great place to pick up a special momento!    Or,  bring your ATV and explore the many trails and participate in Geocashing; there are over 300 geocaches around the Bancroft area.  No matter what season Echo Shores welcomes you.                                             There is a barbecue, picnic table, and seating area all outside. Complete kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, sink, drip coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, and microwave.  There are utensils, dishes, beverage cups, pots and pans, and a crockpot for you to use.   Looking for an evening of relaxation? check out the DVD's, or play a game. Of course there's nothing like roasting a marshmallow over a fire. Please take caution when burning; keeping your fire modest in size. If there is a burn ban, you will be notified. There is emergency contacts and more information on the refrigerator.   There is lots of parking on the property.  We provide a mattress cover and fitted sheet on the beds so PLEASE remember to bring your own pillows and bedding. Don't forget your beach towels and hand towels. There's usually a few kitchen towels, but you may want back up. Products provided: a starter supply of toilet paper, a starter supply paper towel, plus; a small amount of hand soap, dish soap and a kitchen scrubby is provided. We have two garbage bins inside; in bathroom and kitchen, and one on the deck outside.  We recommend repackaging your perishables, etc in reusable containers before arrival to reduce the waste you leave with. PLEASE remember to take your garbage when you leave as we do not have a disposal service available, be sure to double check you have everything you arrived with. Leave NO print behind ;0)

Beautiful autumn getaway
We had an amazing stay at Echo Shores! Sid and Elaine were great hosts - very responsive, and went out of our way to help us out when we let them know we hadn't brought enough warm bedding (our fault!). The cottage is cozy, well stocked, and the view of the lake is incredible. We really enjoyed the fall colours, and their DVD collection. Highly recommend!

Everything was perfect, exactly what we were looking for. If you have kids though you may not want to rent this cabin, the next door neighbour complained about the kids noise when we were fishing and swimming off the dock.

We loved our 3 night stay at Echo Shores hipcamp! Next time we'd book for longer. The lake views were beautiful 🤩 and the cottage had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. We especially liked the hot water, outdoor shower. Thanks Sid and Elaine for letting us enjoy your little piece of paradise.

Super time of relaxation!
What a wonderful relaxing place to put up your feet, with a view, amd to the sound of loons! The cottage is up on a rock so the view is great. There is a lot of boat traffic on weekends but nights are quiet. There are lots of comfortable chairs and cushions, which is a plus for me enjoying a cottage. Also the dining tent adjacent to house on deck was great for sitting in during rain and also at night to keep the bugs out! The shower has been upgraded MUCH to our great pleasure. I’ll let the owner tell you more! Inside, the cottage is small but cozy and comfortable chairs. The kitchen was impressively well-stocked! I’m not sure it’s mentioned that there are no steps up to cottage entrance. It is a large gradual rock, so could be a challenge for any physically impaired people. Loved the time here! Thx!

Great cottage getaway
Excellent location for a weekend cottage getaway. Good amount of privacy and everything you could hope for in terms of amenities (inside and out). Although the weather didn’t fully cooperate (but still clear enough to get in some good canoeing and paddle boating) and a fire ban was in effect, we didn’t want for things to do.
