We went in and registered. The host was polite and professional but the site was unacceptable. I wish we would have known they are not really set up for RVs. And we would have been the only one. We did not feel safe so we turned around and left. And this was after a four hour drive. The lesson learned: be careful of what you book on HipCamp.
A breath of fresh air!!!
Heavener Runestone was Beautiful, The views are so amazing especially at sunset and at night when you can see the lights from the town down below. The hiking trails were very well laid out and the landscape was just amazing .Nature at its best. We felt very safe and welcomed and definitely look forward to visiting again ,Hopefully for a Viking fest Because we love the History of the location !!
Thank you Amanda for being such a wonderful Host!!
Great host and a relaxing place!
This place is really nice! We went for the weekend and had a very relaxing time. There a couple of trails that you can hike and a playground for the kids. The host welcome us right away and give us instructions on where to set up. We went out with our camper and they provided us with an extension to have it connected to electricity. The view is really nice too!
True hidden gem!
Amanda was so accommodating they have many options for tent camping and small RVs. We have a 30' motorhome and they had us covered too. With all the needed extensions so we didnt have to dig ours out super thoughtful. The view is stunning all the time but sunset is spectacular!
Nice trails with some interesting artifacts and well kept grounds make this a stellar stop in our itinerary.
A very pleasant experience
My family tent camps a lot and all over the place. So I am always on the hunt for a cool place to visit with a great place pitch our tents.
The host is awesome. She worked hard to connect to us personally and visited with us, on our last day, for awhile giving us the history of the park. We arrived after 5, so she came up to our campsite and introduced herself and even delivered firewood instead of making us walk down to the gift shop to purchase it.
The location is beautiful and the view of sunset over the cliff is amazing. They even have a wedding venue available for booking.
My family and I will for sure be back - and if they ask you want campsite 8 it’s perfectly positioned in the middle of the camp.
The playground was in great shape and the kids played on it while I was getting the camp set up and then again while my wife and I were enjoying the sunset.
The Runestone is very cool but the walk down to it is even better. The sandstone overhangs and the forested walk is perfect.
There are a few geocache around the park as well which made the kids happy as they love a good hunt.
Just a quick note: the restrooms and showers are really good for a camp and the property has an amphitheater and our pavilions for group us.
The campsite has a fire ring and a cleared pad for you to place your tent - no rocks and sticks under the floor. Our site was even large enough for my boys to set up their own tent just a little ways behind ours.
This place really is a hidden gem - it’s a great getaway close to tons of lakes and recreation areas. On our second day we even drove over the beavers bend and Hochatown it took just over an hour.
There were good food options in town although we didn’t end up using them. The Southern Belle is set up in a converted railcar and looks really cool. They responded quickly to my message on their website concerning vegetarian options and they seemed really willing to work with our diet needs. We ended up making our meals at our site instead.
I had no idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised and like I said earlier we will be back later this fall - because they are open year round - which is very cool because the temps in the area say nice most of the year.
Quiet and cozy
Amanda (the host) was very friendly and accommodating. The park wasn’t that full so we did have privacy. If we ever get back that way we will stop and stay again!
