One of the best hipcamps we've stayed at so far! If you love animals, you will definitely love it here. The hosts are so welcoming and will bring you along a tour of the MASSIVE property (about 300 acres) and all the animals in their possession. I would recommend to anyone, I am very tempted to go back myself. If you want by the water, the woods, by animals...it's all available to you at one site. There is more than enough space to explore, you could camp here 10 times and not see it all.
We loved our stay at River View Camp! The property had a little bit of everything. The front of the property vs the back of the property looked like two completely different worlds. Our dogs LOVED running through the fields, sand, and river and we loved taking a break from the hectic city life.
We highly recommend staying at J'Lenn's property! We stayed two nights at one of their sites a short walk from the white sand beach. The beach was expansive and beautiful and we were they only ones there! We spent most of our time hiking around the beach and our dog absolutely loved playing in the water. We also got to meet many of J'Lenn's rescue animals and exotic pets, which was amazing! J'Lenn and Jody were so accommodating and kind sharing their land with us. They greeted us when we came in after dark and led us to our campsite, where they had already started a campfire for us! We definitely want to book another stay at this campsite!
Oh my goodness, what a lovely place and lovely people. The hosts are so kind, generous and accommodating, and their land is literally hundreds and hundreds (and hundreds!) of acres for exploring. River-front beach, streams and ponds, fields, forest - River View Camp has it all. It would be a great place for large groups -- bring your friends and set up camp in the white sand along the Red River under the stars. The hosts will even rent you things you maybe didn't even know you needed that will make your stay even better -- like a smoker or a 10 x 10 dog kennel, etc. They will do whatever they can to make your family event/weekend get-away absolutely perfect. They have a deep knowledge of the land and have lots of ideas for other outdoor adventures in the area. We can't stop talking about how much fun we had and can't wait to go back.
This place is absolutely AMAZING. We will be coming back. Our hosts were kind and truly wonderful people. We loved their animal sanctuary and getting to feed the baby deer, goats and even a baby cow. They have sweet raccoons and skunks and as an animal lover I was in absolute heaven.
We camped out on the sandy beach area on the Red River, the sand is tough to drive through so be very careful, they had other areas to camp as well!
If you camp on the sand, bring something for shade and fans for your tent, its crazy hot. Kayaking and swimming made it much more bearable.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Thank you all for letting us stay.
This is a very unique spot! We were able to Jeep across a portion of the river and camp on a small sand island. At night we watched 4 different far-away storm systems in the same sky--essentially a 360 view of distant lighting on a quiet river. Experiencing the Red River Sandbox is a must-do especially if you have 4WD! J'Lenn was a nice and helpful host and we hope to be back in the future.
We had the most amazing time at River View Camp! The hosts are unreal, they are so kind, shared so much knowledge with us, and even said they would give a rain check to stay for free because the beach was completely under water due to access rain! We will no doubt be back! We camped in a clearing in a wooded area. We enjoyed hiking, cooking out, and star gazing. This property is a MUST SEE!❤️
Stars and sand
Super friendly host that were more than accommodating for our party. The river front was an amazing experience to camp on and is already something we are talking about doing again. Definitely come equipped with a 4x4 or AWD as you'll need that to travel along the sand. The host and her family were very helpful in allowing us to load up onto their tractor trailer with our gear and bring us to the location and even pick us up on our last day. The porta potty was a bit further than expected so bring a shovel if you don't want to make the trek to it.
