Buffalo Dream Ranch is a multi-parcel ranch with diverse terrain in the Wichita Mountains region of Southwest Oklahoma.

Our camping experience is NOT 'suburban' in character.  There are no adjacent, tightly-packed sites.  There are no rangers to prowl about your business.  There are no nearby noisy roads and few or no visible lights.  Each campsite provides direct access to the whole parcel to explore.

There are NO nearby stores!  Please come well provisioned for your stay.  Clean water and one very good bathroom with a nice shower are provided.  Note the one bathroom is shared by all camping guests.  All sites have some level of development.  Some have a fire pit and even table.  A Brazilian hammock is set up in some sites.

We hope some day to have more hookup sites.  At present we have water and 120V 20A via extension cord to one auxiliary site.

Because of invasive pests we ask that you please not bring firewood.  We have very high quality firewood cut on the ranch that you can buy for $10 a large tote-bin.

We are flexible about changing sites to match conditions, for example, if it is very wet or very windy.  Just clear it with us first if we don't offer that to begin with.

For larger groups 7 to 13 you can book two sites (to be fair in price to us), then either use both sites or stay in one site around one fire pit.

OUR SITES

Site 1: Main Creek Campsite.  On the 80-acre home parcel.  Noookish and the most wind-protected site.  Next to a rocky, sandy creek with water pools (when not in drought).  Rock fire pit with swing-over cooking grate.  Suitable for hammocks.  Unsuitable for large vehicles.  600 feet to the bathroom.

Site 2: Cottonwood Grove Campsite. On the 80-acre home parcel.  Large and open. Popular with large groups needing a lot of vehicle and tent space.  Table Rock & steel fire pit with lay-over cooking grate.  Well shaded when the cottonwood trees are in leaf.  Close to 4 small ponds.  800 feet to the bathroom.

Site 3: Auxiliary Creek Campsite. On the 80-acre home parcel and near the ranch house.  A mix of nookish and open.  Easy access for a trailer or small RV no bigger than a 20-foot cattle trailer.  Potable water and 120V 20A via an extension cord run from the shop.  Shaded when the large mulberry tree is in leaf.  Rock fire pit in a sunken area by the rocky creek and adjacent to the parking area.  No table.  The closest site to the bathroom.

Site 4: Mesquite Grove South.  In a mesquite- and bodark-tree grove a 160-acre parcel that touches corners with the home parcel.  Extremely private.  Near where some of our cows like to hang out.  Rock fire pit.  Water faucet 300 feet away.  1/2 mile walk and 5-minute drive to the bathroom.

Site 4: Under development.

Site 5: Under development.

Buffalo Dream Ranch is a 15-minute drive directly into the most visited federal Wildlife Management Area in the nation, the fascinating and surprising Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.  You will see beautiful, ancient igneous-rock hills with intense boulder scaling and rock climbing possibilities.  Interesting wildlife is found there, including buffalo and prairie dogs. The resort town of Medicine Park and the famous food of Meers is nearby the Refuge.  Large regional lakes are within a one-hour-drive radius as well.

We stayed two nights at the ranch over Memorial Day weekend and had a wonderful time. Chris and Claire were excellent hosts – they were very accommodating and friendly, providing directions to the nearby Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge from their property and setting up a wonderful camping spot next to the creek that runs through the parcel. There is much more exploring to do than could be accomplished in two days, so we only saw a small portion of the property, which affords fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and beautiful, natural scenery. We will most definitely be returning whenever a break from city life and some peace and quiet is needed. Thank you, Chris and Claire!

Claire and Chris' land is so beautiful, and their hospitality is even more grand! Way more of a private experience as opposed to a public park.
We will definitely go back again!

Stayed the weekend at the ranch. We stayed in our tent at a site right beside the creek. It was perfect. It was very quiet and peaceful. It was within walking distance to the headquarters too. Claire and Chris were very friendly and accommodating. There were a lot of birds singing in the mornings, and we enjoyed a firefly show around the creek at night. We fell asleep listening to the crickets and the stream bubbling. We walked a little on the property to explore the creek and nearby pond. We also took one day to explore the nearby Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. All were absolutely gorgeous. We will definitely be back again. One of our new favorite places!

This was our third stay at the ranch and, as usual, we had a great time. We brought two kids with us this time, so we stayed in a new, more open spot, and it was very nice. Chris and Claire have put a lot of hard work into making the camping areas very welcoming and comfortable. We have nothing but praise for these two and their beautiful land. We'll definitely be back, come spring time!

This is the best kept secret in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma.

Chris and Claire are incredibly accommodating and gave us the choice of 3 different camping locations on their land. Camping on ranch land is such a unique experience as it allows others to gain a wider perspective of what ranch living is like.

The geology of the surrounding area is wonderful and Chris is incredibly knowledgeable and gladly shares that knowledge with his guests.

The utilities are the best I have experienced at any campsite putting the figurative term "a home from home" into a literal one. Very clean and everything you need provided for you.

Buffalo Dream Ranch Camping will be the only place I will stay when visiting the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge in the future and it won't be very long until my next visit with my children.

A well deserved 5 stars!

Scott and Claire's place is truly something special. If you're wanting a unique Wichita Mountains experience, definitely stay here! The campsite was secluded, quiet, and near a stream--a total dream. Scott and Claire were also incredibly hospitable. HIGHLY recommend! We'll definitely be back.

Chris and Claire's land is breathtaking. Ancient rocks litter the gorgeous stream, and gentle- souled, curious cattle play nearby. This is a wonderful place to camp off the beaten path, away from urban style type camping. They provide a home- bouldered fire pit, firewood (THANK YOU SO MUCH), table, log and cozy boulder to sit on, maybe even a hammock.
The bathroom is just a short distance walk from the site (s). The wildlife is fantastic- you'll be camping amongst many different homes. Chris and Claire were extremely welcoming and my group took a lot from our stay. If you want a truly humbling, peaceful, beautiful camping experience this is the place to go!!! I can't wait to go back!
