The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows, horses and chickens. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables. The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner.

Favorite Hipcamp around!
Great trip to Flying J as always. Richard was quick to respond as always and even allowed us to switch to a preferred site that was not occupied that evening. Beautiful and peaceful early spring night spent with nothing but the sounds of spring peepers and song birds and a beautiful view.

7 Lake and Forest Camping
Beautiful land and private campsites. We stayed at site 7 in the woods which was a few hundred feet from the restroom. If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend this is the place!

Rain did not ruin it
Really enjoyed getting to camp just off the pond, was unfortunately as some harsh weather came in, but I hope to come back and enjoy the land as summer rolls around. Really enjoyed the privacy the spot had.

Site 3 - Lake and Forest Camping
Nope.
Nope. I did not get the impression that Richard wanted people on his property. It is a very beautiful site, but I didn't feel welcome so much as tolerated. I initially contacted him with the idea that I needed to book up to a week, and was told the minimum was 3 days; so that was never entirely clear. I went to book my stay on hipcamp and on the calendar presented it would only allow me to book 2 days, not 3 and not even just 1. So, having no other obvious choice, I booked two. I didn't bother contacting the host Richard, because responses were slow, so I just did my booking, and even after that I wasn't presented with a destination address by hipcamp, and although I finally did ask Richard for the address, he didn't contact me back with it until I had already figured it out on my own and was at the property itself. I didn't want to have to keep checking my phone for messages on the silly hipcamp app while I was driving. Talk about a distraction. Straight up text messages should have done just fine. They keep saying there's an app for that but clearly there isn't one for plain old common sense. I pitched my tent, after being told to leave no tire tracks(wtf), woke up the next morning and headed into Columbus to conduct some business and, while having lunch with my son, I get a message from Richard that he saw that my things were still at site 3 and to please remove them. Check out was 12pm. Here I am thinking I booked a minimum/maximum of 2 days...Yay. No help at all. Asshole

Best campsite in Ohio!
3rd time staying here, as always Richard is an incredible host. Not many hosts will bring you firewood on a cold winter morning. Always a pleasure staying here and will be coming back very soon.
