With its name derived from the ancient Native American name for the Olentangy River (on which the property sits), Laughing Waters is nestled on 6 1/2 acres of beautiful open meadows and woods with close proximity to many attractions and amenities. We are just beginning to develop the area for camping and as such, we have a more rustic tenting experience. For an additional charge, we have a log cabin for rent as well. This is an ideal location for your camping (or even glamping) needs!
The property is on a scenic byway and also has one of the largest rapids in Ohio (when the dam is open). As such, kayaking and fishing in the river are always an option or just stay by the pond for a paddle boat ride or fishing as well.

This was our best Hipcamp experience yet, it is a MUST STAY. The hosts were AMAZING. When we arrived they showed us around their beautiful property. There were so many areas to sleep. We brought our conversion van and set up next to a barn they host small weddings in (it was incredible). There was also a small wood cabin, little rustic camper, large grassy area, smaller secluded grassy area, and an area next to their pond to pitch a tent. The property had two fire pits, a tiki bar, a pond, and the cutest garden. They also have potential plans of adding an outhouse, outdoor shower area, and another cabin. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the changing Ohio leaves and relaxed next to a nice fire before we went to sleep. In the morning the hosts invited us for pancakes and bacon, that of which was the BEST bacon we have ever had! Our dog enjoyed running around the land and playing with their bulldog Sammy. It was the best camping experience, we couldn't recommend this property enough.
Beautiful property with amazing host! We stayed near the back of the property in our roof top tent and laid out in the sun, made s’mores, and watched the fire in the fire pit they had there! Host went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time providing wood, tiki torches, fire starter, and an overall good attitude. Site is near the city but private. You can hear some road noise from a local road but IMO it didn’t take away from the fun. Would definitely visit again!
Laughing Waters is a great get-away! Michael and Valerie made sure we were able to settle in and enjoy our time away. The set up was more than we expected with a great place to fish, eat and enjoy our campfire. I would recommend to anyone, but is especially a great location so close to Columbus. My boys and I hope to come again!
Mike and Valerie were awesome! We really enjoyed getting to know them and hearing the history of the property. They were super welcoming and the property was a lot of fun to spend the night on!
Michael & Valerie's exceeded our expectations. My girlfriend and I we're looking for a quick escape in Columbus and stumbled across their property. Upon arrival, we were struct by cleanliness of the property. It's real easy to have a few close up "instagram" shots online that makes things a bit skewed without context. This was not the case. They offered fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and grapes from their garden. We had full access to the deck next to the pond, and setup camp on top of the hill near the back of the property. There are so many areas to set up, start a fire, and explore. You can tell they love hosting as much as their property.
