Backwoods Adventure Camping is situated on a beautiful farm in rural Ohio. While it was cold during my stay (Ohio is like that in April) I really enjoyed it! There were horses grazing nearby, beautiful woods to hike and explore, and scenic views of farmland and forests.
This place was amazing. The perfect place to relax and unwind. The camp site I was at was everything I wanted! I took a nice hike through the woods where I saw deer, chipmunks, squirrels, birds, and even a horse who was near my campsite! (But was within its fence and very nice and very approachable!) It was the peaceful getaway I needed! If you are ever in the heart of the mid eastern state of Ohio you gotta find this place and set up camp!
We had the best, most absolutely perfect stay. Autumn and her family were gracious and kind and their property was beyond beautiful. I can assure you that we’ll return for another stay.
Autumn and her family were super friendly and accommodating. Her dad showed us all the campsites, let us take our pick for the night. He brought us a map of the farm and even brought us extra firewood. The stargazing was amazing, can’t wait to go back!
Beautiful star gazing
Autumn and her family were very open and inviting. They gave us a map of their property and even gave us a tour! They made sure we had everything we needed and let us know they were there in case we needed anything. It is a very beautiful and peaceful farm and we will be back, we have been twice already.
Ups and downs.. learning experience
My situation was a little different. I had young kids with me so anything can happen. The owner was a very very nice man. When I arrive I was supposed to do a hike up site but was offered a drive up site. The grass there was long but I totally understand because of the weather it was hard for him to mow. There were no bathrooms I thought there may be a outhouse maybe I read wrong. Luckily I have boys but for me obviously it was a rustic experience for me 🤣. It was cool you could go see the horses my kids really enjoyed that and the horses seemed super friendly. The worst thing that happened was the tick situation. I am a new camper myself so I don’t know everything to expect. We were in a fairly open area on top of a hill so I didn’t quite expect this but my son wound up with two ticks on him. The first I saw right away the second was in his hair. I kinda wish there was a warning about that or if someone suggested something to help keep them away. I did invest citronella candles and used a fair amount of vics vapo rub because insects generally do not like mint/menthol. The view was very beautiful especially from where we were. The hosts were great. It was definitely a nice first camping experience for us. Besides the couple of issues which next time anywhere we go whether it’s closer to home or far away we will know for next time :)
