We traveled to Horse Persons Paradise from Pittsburgh and the drive was beautiful. Very quickly outside of the city the land became rolling and lush with green. It was a pretty easy 1.5 hour drive. Our GPS brought us right to the correct mailbox. Look for the antique green horse wagon by the turn of the driveway and you will know you are in the right place.
We drove into the gravel driveway and tucked our van into a small grassy lane near the spring that feeds from the pond. We found a level spot just the right size for our van and called it home. We never met the host, but the property felt peaceful and quiet. There is a pond with a small gazebo you can catch some shade in and a small paddle boat propped on the edge. We did not venture too far up the driveway beyond the pond - so we can’t speak to the rest of the property. If you are traveling near the town of Mechanicstown, Ohio check this place out!

Taking a little stroll.Sweet little stream not too far from here.A little paddleboat waiting for you at the pond. The pond with a small gazebo.

John, Christine, and Garrick were great hosts and were very accommodating for our group. The camp area by the pond is peaceful and serene. The partially finished cabin is a nice hideout from the rain. Make sure to visit the pets on the farm as they are super friendly. I will definitely be returning. Thanks again for everything, we had a great time. :)

John and his girlfriend were excellent hosts. They were very accommodating and friendly. Their campsite was absolutely perfect. They allowed us to bring our dogs, and showed us where some of their trails started. Their pond is the perfect spot to pitch a tent and relax for the weekend. I would definitely recommend John and his property.

We needed a quick getaway from Pittsburgh and John’a property was a good fit. We enjoyed the paddle boat and fishing in the lake, however unfortunately no big catch this time. John came down and introduced himself and was a pleasant host. The camping area wasn’t too big and was next to the gravel driveway up to the farm, but it was very quiet and peaceful. The only thing I would point out as a negative is that we porter potty was very dirty, full of spiderwebs and not very pleasant. The hiking trails were easy to walk and there is so much nature in the Area to explore! Overall it was a great getaway and we enjoyed our time at Kick’n Country Farm.

This is a great camping spot with a great host! The spot and the portajohn was very clean. They showed the kids all the animals and tiger the cat was a favorite. Fishing was awesome especially on the paddle boat. Lots of fish were caught and released. I already can’t wait to come back!!
