We had a wonderful stay! Though the site is close to the host’s house, the orientation makes it private and it is SUCH a lovely setting! Walking/hiking trails couldn’t be closer and we enjoyed evening and morning hikes, followed by meals on the porch with a fire in the chiminea. The lodging itself is simple, clean and cozy. Hosting is top notch - informative about the area and pleasant to chat with but aside from a nice introduction we were left alone to enjoy our stay. We’d definitely stay again!
Wonderful visit. Stayed two nights. Wonderful host, had so much prepared for us. Games, firewood, and maps about the area, booklets, etc .kids had so much fun. Enjoyed the parks near by and sleeping in the cabin was a treat for us all. Thank you for a fun weekend and being so nice,
We loved staying here! We were going to pitch a tent for the night but ended up staying inside on the bed platforms because the upstairs was so cute. Thanks to Anna for how she helped us to find places nearby and provided us with maps and directions, and firewood! It was a great place to stay as we were passing through the area.
I would recommend!
Anna greeted us as soon as we pulled up. The place is a garage converted into a loft/cabin. It’s about 15 yards from their house. Inside was pretty cozy for a night in October. Plenty of space ~ downstairs had a counter and table, with a few outlets. The upstairs had 2 bed frames, and a table. We had sleeping bags and I would recommend bringing a bed pad. No issues for one night stay. We did have a little trouble fitting our truck close enough to the house to unpack everything. But we made it work. I would recommend!
We didn't make it to the location as expected, long day on the road so we had to stop a few hours away. They communicated with us that day and were very understanding to our situation. I'd definitely save this on my list for our next drive through Ohio!
Stayed at the roost with two friends for a girl's night at a cabin. We had a great time. The cabin is cozy. Lots of electrical outlets upstairs and downstairs. A couple of tables downstairs to set up your things and put food and drinks together. Very useful. The chimnea in front of the porch for small fires. We loved that. I would definitely recommend this little gem. The only downside are 1. It is very close to the owners house. This didn't really bother us, but we did think it would be a little further back on the property. 2. If you are a smoker, which one of my friends is, you have to go across the street to smoke. But these things are minor and will not keep me from returning.
Anna was warm and welcoming. Trail maps were available, and she gave us good recommendations on where to go. One very nice surprise was how close Oak Openings Trail (15 mile long roundtrip) was; literally across the little street from the site. We crossed over the street (hardly any cars are seen) early in the morning and walked there under trees in full glory of Midwest fall.
The cabin and its set up exceeded my expectation. Downstairs has a couple of tables inside, very convenient for our camping gear setup. Just outside there is also a small metal table. Upstairs, a small table with four chairs make the room cozy, and we had our meals there when it was too chilly to sit out. An electric heater upstairs was more than enough to keep us warm over night in sleeping bags.
All in all, it was a great trip, with beautiful surroundings and a great host(ess). Many thanks to Anna!
Nice and cozy
Great experience. The host was very welcoming, answered all of our questions before we arrived. Always responded within hours. The directions were accurate, the site is tidy and has a lot more amenities than you'd expect from a campsite. The location is isolated, and yet still very close to the back of her home. Not a problem, still feels private, but it is essentially at the end of her driveway. The owner's dog was very friendly. The cabin was perfect, cozy, and had electricity and sleeping platforms. No running water inside. Porta toilet outside as is a hose. Easy to heat water in a portable electric kettle (provided). All in all - just as described and a great experience.
