Broken Oak Campsite #2
Great Farm Site
Great place to stay! Hosts were wonderful.
Pros:
- Privacy (only site on that side of the road)
- Animals! They raise goats, pigs, and many other animals/birds. Very fun to see, and none are able to intrude on campsite #2
- Beautiful & natural property; hosts were happy to give us a tour and show us all their animals
- Feels rural and peaceful, but shops & restaurants are just 5 minutes away
- Hosts provided pile of pallets as additional free firewood, and campsite had a few chairs to use
Potential drawbacks
- didn't have electric/water hookups if you need those
- no fancy bathhouse, but they have a composting toilet with privacy
Great place for those visiting Mt. Vernon, would happily stay again!

Lovely spot
I loved spending four days at this spot! Right next to a pollinator field and shaded areas available. Note though, I was there in September and the wild cherry trees are dropping their berries… the host was extremely accommodating and helpful with local activities. The baby goats were adorable and the property has hiking trails around the farm area. The entrance to site two can be a little tricky to find, but all in all a terrific location and I would definitely go back!

Broken Oak
Michael and Julie were fabulous hosts! My family enjoyed the farm, especially the animals (Lucy the baby goat was the best) and the tree house was fantastic entertainment! We plan to be back! Thank you!

Never again.
Not what we imagined. The pond is not swim-able. The peacocks wake you up as soon as the sun rises. There really isn't any privacy. Seems like they don't take care of the property as they once did because you can see the differences. Their dog came up and peed on our site everyday in two different areas and kept trying to dig in the trash can. Now, I don't mind dogs and he even seemed friendly, till he nipped at my son and caught his eye brow (yes, it did bleed). My husband addressed the owner and all the owner said was he's sorry and he'd keep the dog by his side at all times. Which upset me because he couldn't put his beer down and come apologize to my son or check out the situation. Then the next morning, the dog was back at the site without the owner. SMH, just careless and disrespectful.

Great trip
Nice secluded spot. Animals were fun for the kids, not far from the river to play in. Would go back. Great host.

Ask host about pesticides first
Unfortunately we were exposed to pesticides on our first morning here. The animals are way cute and she site very pretty, but it is situated on the edge of a neighbor's field. We were cooking breakfast when the neighbor drove past in a boom sprayer about 20 feet from the picnic table. He was using Round Up which drifted over to us. We did not feel comfortable staying there and left. The hosts gave us a full refund (including our first night) and were very apologetic and kind. They said they did not know that their neighbor used pesticides and that they personally do not on their land. Although the hosts said they would adjust the camp moving forward, we currently would be hesitant to recommend unless things have changed. It is too bad because otherwise its a very nice and quiet place to camp!
