Lake Summit Camper Getaway
The Lake Summit RV Getaway was a really cool place to camp. We had our 16 foot RV with us and the pull-in was easy and relatively flat. (We recommend bringing leveling devices with you if you have a longer RV since you might not be able to make the turn like we did and have to park on a slope.) If you're pitching a tent, finding a level spot should be no problem! The site itself is clean and covered with small wood chips which we were thankful for because it meant we weren't tracking mud into our camper all night.
The site is about 800 feet, just a short walk up a hill on a quiet gravel road (it's a lovely walk!) from the lake. We actually went for a walk right before we ate our dinner, just to get a sense of what our run the next morning might be like. We discovered that the gravel road continues around the perimeter of the lake and the views are gorgeous! When we woke up the next morning we got four miles in as the sun came up just over the mountains. The clouds were wrapped around the tops of the peaks and it was just beautiful! Even though it's peak season, we saw few people and felt like we had the place all to ourselves!
We'd recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet place to getaway in either your tent or RV. It's dog friendly, has beautiful views and is far enough off the road that the only thing you're sure to hear at night is nature.
