The tiny cabin was such a delight! Our hosts were very kind and even gave us a dozen eggs when we left. We loved seeing the dogs, goats (especially the baby goats), and chickens. It's also cool to know that all the money the hosts raise renting out their cabin gets donated to non-profits.
Snug winter getaway!
Staying at Wanda’s was delightful! It was the perfect escape from city life! A toasty little cabin on a hill was lovely on crisp winter evenings! We sat on the porch with hot tea and saw our first snow flurries of the year.
The microwave, mini fridge, electric kettle, and toaster oven were just enough for us to prep and store our meals!
This property is so beautiful, the cabin is small but comfy and homey. Mrs. Wanda and Mr. George were amazing, they were so generous and helpful. Mr. George guided us to a beautiful waterfall nearby and even let us borrow some tubes to float the nearby river. Our daughter really enjoyed playing and feeding the goats(she wanted to take them home lol) and finding eggs in the chicken coop. The cabin was extremely clean and the beds were comfortable. The nearby town of Murphy was so cute and had lots of shops and restaurants (try the red brick deli amazing and the daily grind). We will definitely be back this has been one of the best vacations we have been on.
Solace in murphy
George and Wanda were such wonderful hosts. The cabin is basically new with electricity and hot water, but it’s smells wonderful like lumber and it’s quiet and private on their property. It was just two of us and the cabin was more than enough space. We could have been four and still comfortable. We got lucky with the weather - just needed a couple windows at night but there is AC and an overhead fan.
We highly recommend staying here! A great getaway from Miami and a home-y retreat after hiking in the Smokies. Thanks to our hosts again!
A wonderful weekend to decompress. Wanda was a great hostess and the cabin was stocked with everything you may need - books, toiletries, snacks, coffee, towels....everything. You only need to bring a toothbrush and change of clothes. Will be back again.
This tiny cabin was the perfect tree-framed refuge for my tiny solo trip into the woods. Wanda and George were such welcoming hosts for this soul-searching wanderer. And the fluffy goat guards sure do give some of the nicest, wet-nosed greetings around. From Cloudland Canyon to the Appalachian Trail and beyond, this wood-clad haven sure offered me a nice place to rest tired feet and read a good book at the end of adventure-filled days.
It was all and more than what I was expecting. Cabin was neat and had everything you would need. I was planning to do some all day hiking with my children, but we had on and off rain everyday. However, thanks to the best hosts ever, George and Wanda, we had plenty of tips for us to spent the time actively and restfully as one on a proper vacation should. They took us tubing - essentially arranged the whole thing for us -thank you so much!!! Told us where to go in the city for ice cream, where to go to visit nearby beautiful waterfall, introduced us to their goats and dogs - kids had a blast, simply, it was the perfect few days. If you thinking about going, go.
Thank you again Wanda and George!
It was hard not to pass the days away sitting on the cabin porch watching the animals and listening to the brook and the birds, sipping coffee or wine, and having good conversation.
Wanda was so hospitable and helpful, from offering us tips on destinations in the area to bringing us a corkscrew when we realized we forgot one to introducing us to the dogs and goats, who are super friendly and affectionate.
The cabin has just what you need for a getaway. The little pantry has utensils, plates, mugs, and bowls. And there's a toaster oven, microwave, kettle, and French press. It's well-lit, but there are also some candles to make it feel even more cozy. And the heating/air unit kept the cabin plenty warm on Fall nights.
All in all a dreamy spot and awesome hosts. I have a feeling we'll be back.
