Do not camp here.
Showed up and the directions to the site were very vague. We drove around for 30 minutes and then tried to contact the host, which was very difficult. She gave us more vague directions but still was impossible to find. We looked for over an hour but could not find it, then the host would not respond period, also not refunding. Her directions consisted of going down a dirt road and finding a pond with a little house... there were tons of little houses and broken down vehicles on that road and there was no chance of finding it. DO NOT PURCHASE OR CAMP HERE!!!

Exactly as pictured. Made contact through text once, but never in person. Seems like a nice person. Literally just trees on the side of the road. Problem is at 2am i woke up to a wild hog. Extremely scary. I was going to stay a couple days, ended up leaving after first night and never going back. Also what sounds like hound dogs going off all night.

Pretty much just woods on the side of the road, which is fine if thatâs what youâre looking for. The instructions werenât clear and the host was hard to get in touch with. Itâs not on Lake Wheeler, but very close by.

Falsely Advertised
The site was very different from the photos. In the photos it seems that there is a specific place for camping; however, after about 20 minutes of looking we could find none. When I asked for directions the host was unhelpful with where to park or find the sites. It also mentioned a fire pit, but none could be found. We ultimately left and instant booked with another site nearby because we could not figure out what was her property vs someone else's.

Casual Camp Ground at the Lake is just that. It's a wooded are in Raleigh that is very casual. Very simple set up but you're close to things to do in Raleigh if you'd like that. If you're trying to get away you need to go further outside the city. The host is delightful and eager to improve their space upon even visitors recommendations.
I help create their first official campsite and I think they would benefit from carving out a few more spots more visible for people to pick and choose based on their preference. But if you need just a simple "camping in the backyard feel " this is for your.
