We stayed here in July, 2020 and had a wonderful time. The lot exceeded our expectations, by far. It's easily 3 times the size of any lot in a campground, and encompasses half a peninsula surrounded by the canal. The neighborhood used to be a campground and many of the lots are now homes. There is a very nice privacy wall up that houses the electric, water and sewer hookups (all worked perfectly) and the wall blocks an old trailer on a neighboring property. It's at the backside of the site behind your camper and you don't notice it at all. What you do see is beautiful lawn and nice landscaping, the ducks in the canal, the fun neighbors next door with their tiki decorations and the sound one street over. The site is level. There is a concrete patio with a picnic table and some rather comfy adirondack chairs. The peninsula is edged with a seawall and you can throw a crab pot right off your campsite. The hosts and neighbors said they swim in the canal (there is a ladder off the seawall) but we opted to enjoy the views from land. We wished we had brougt kayaks because it is perfect for that - out and around the corner and you're in the sound. We loved the location. Grandy is about 20 minutes to the intersection of 158 & 12. You're eating at gourmet, waterfront restaurants with palms swaying in the breeze in 30 minutes. The entire Outer Banks is at your disposal, from Hatteras to Corova. Across the canal is Barry's - a fantastic dive bar with a tiki atmosphere. (Try the ribeye sandwhich!) We walked over a few times and enjoyed the sunsets. The hosts were so sweet. They live a few minutes away and answered our questions, let us borrow a turkey pot to have our own seafood boil, and couldn't have been more accomodating. This is a gem of a campsite. We will definitely be back and next time we'll bring our dog, now that we know how big the site is. Thanks for sharing this wonderful property with us!

We had a great little vacay here! My wife and I took our 19 month old in our motor home and spent 3 nights. Teresa and the neighbors were extremely kind and welcoming. We had a great day at the ocean and a relaxing day floating on the sound/through the water streets on Walnut Island. It was way more private and comfortable than a campground. We will definitely be back with the proper equipment to fully enjoy the great water sport options the sound has to offer.

Jacob, thank you so much, It was truly our pleasure. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great camp site! Conveniently located to the Outer Banks. Site hosts went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable (and even surprised us with a wonderful welcome gift!) By far best Hip Camp we've stayed at. Highly recommend!

Janna and Chris, thank you so much! It was truly our pleasure. Come back and visit us again soon, we book throughout the year.
We were only at the Water Retreat for 2 night, but it was a terrific home base for our stay on the Currituck Sound! Thanks to Teresa for the warm and friendly welcome, and the very well-tended site.

Thank you so much. It was truly our pleasure. Please come back and see us again!
Our family had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Water retreat. It was right on the water and so easy to launch our kayaks and stand up paddle board without having to carry them a far distance with kids. The area was clean and lawn was very nicely manicured, plenty of room for our boys to play with no one around. The community was safe and quiet, very peaceful sitting next to the camp fire at night. Mrs Teresa was so incredibly kind and personalized welcoming our family. She made sure that we had everything we needed and even had to run us the 50amp adapter when ours wasn’t working. The location is about 40-45mins to Kitty Hawk where we spent the day at the beach. We will definitely be back!

Megan, thank you so much for that wonderful review. You and your precious family were a pleasure to host and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
We camped at Water Retreat for 12 days and likely would have stayed longer if we hadn’t made other travel plans. To say we are spoiled, going now to a campground is an understatement. This property is exceptional. Theresa is a fantastic host and made sure we had everything we needed. An incredibly thoughtful welcome gift was an extra nice surprise. When Theresa asked at the end of our trip if we could make any suggestions to improve our stay we honestly could not think of a single thing. We would highly recommend anyone coming to the OBX to camp to stay at Water Retreat.

Marty and Lynn, thank you so much. You and your precious puppy were such a pleasure to host and you took such good care of the property. We hope you will come back soon. Happy travels, Teresa
This was our second stay at the Water Retreat and it was just as perfect the first. It's one of our favorite places to camp. 💙🌴 💙

Linda, you and Billy are awesome. We can't tell you how much we appreciate you and look forward to your next visit.
Neat and tidy corner of an RV park. Pretty Sun light in the morning and evenings. Super easy hook ups and Teresa our host was wonderful, helpful and attentive.

Roz, thank you so much. You and your sweet family were a pleasure to host. We hope you will come back and visit us again. Happy travels!
Our stay at Water Retreat was our maiden voyage in an RV. Teresa was incredibly welcoming, she had even made us personalized cards that left is with extra treats for the kids. She's got a passion for creativity for sure!
She was responsive, answered any question we had and checked in to be sure we had everything we needed, which was an absolute yes. We were able to fish, kayak, paddle board, swim, throw sticks with our dog and relax as we have not relaxed in way too long. The beach and sand dunes are a short and easy drive and have us extra activities, though we could have easily started on property the entire time.
We were spoiled by the experience and every time we rave about it to others, we end with the fact that we're not sure we're going to find a place like this anywhere else!

Awe, thank you! You and your precious family were such a joy to host. Your very sweet and fun thank you card still brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. We hope you will come back soon and often! The MacPhersons
