Pitch your tent(s) in the woodland between our permaculture farm and our 115-year-old farmhouse, gardens and dairy goat barn. We offer a large platform for 1-4 tents, plus other ground spots for larger groups. Walk the trails, visit the goats, stroll the lane to the farm and orchard. Enjoy hiking at State Parks, kayaking, swimming, canoeing on nearby Haw River or Jordan Lake. Visit the small, charming sustainability-hub of Pittsboro, the college town of Carrboro with its music and local foods scene, plus all the urban interest of Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham. Start a fire at night in the fire ring. There may be opportunity to purchase farm produce for meals. We have a cold outdoor shower, compost outhouse, and outdoor kitchen and counters in the barn (including small coffee pot, very basic utensils, toaster oven, etc, and sink for washing up), plus full sized, shared refrigerator for storing a few provisions. This is a QUIET forest campground. Families and nature lovers are welcome. NO PARTYING! Alcohol is OK but NO drunkenness! Illegal drugs are not allowed and no cigarette smoking. *Please keep your music in your headphones.* We are a quiet family, please be conscientious neighbors. If you enjoy trails, quiet walks, birdwatching and permaculture, we are a match. If you want to get drunk and be loud, please do not inquire. Trash should be minimal and you will need to pack it out with you.
We accommodate only one group at a time, so you'll enjoy having the place to yourself (with exception of our family occasionally leading goats along the trail from the barn to the farm field to graze, or so we might tend to veggies on the farm).
There is a large platform which can accommodate 1-2 large tents or up to 4 small tents, with 3 other spaces in the woods to accommodate larger groups. The base fee is for 1 person and one vehicle. Additional people and vehicles in your group (up to 8 people and 3 vehicles in total) can be accommodated for an additional fee per person per night. Parking for larger groups is available down the drive near the road.

Beside it being the perfect spot to recharge yourself from all the stress of the everyday life. i really love how with just a small donation to host you can harvest anything that is ready in the farm, there's a perfect lil hiking trail just around the corner which i truly enjoyed its the perfect spot for a lil morning or afternoon hike.
Alisa greeted me and my family when we arrived and got us setup quickly. The energy I felt at Sparkroot Farm was as expected. As my sons and I were setting up camp my wife practiced yoga, inspired by the tranquil setting. The firewood I paid for was there by the firepit and Alisa told me where I could get more if I needed...she was very accommodating. We'll be camping here again.
This was our first experience camping at a Hipcamp site and it did not disappoint! The property was beautiful and Alisa was a very welcoming host. Our daughter especially enjoyed watching Alisa milk her goats and roaming around the beautiful farmland. We would love to come again!
Beautiful grounds. The property is lovely and secluded. A walk in any direction will be sure you delight you. The entire area feels like an artists haven. The garden and farm are gorgeous. The forest is peaceful and serene. I felt safe and grounded. Outdoor fridge and kitchen is amazing (especially for washing hands) I had an incredible time and would certainly recommend to everyone!
