We offer a large platform for 1-2 tents, plus many other nearby spots for larger groups. Walk the trails, visit the goats, stroll the lane to the farm and orchard. Enjoy nearby hiking at State Parks, kayaking, swimming, canoeing on The Haw or Jordan Lake. Visit the small, charming sustainability-hub of Pittsboro, the college town of Carrboro with its music and local foods scene, plus all the urban interest of Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham. Start a fire at night in the fire ring. There may be opportunity to purchase farm produce for meals. We have a cold outdoor shower, primitive/compost outhouse, and outdoor kitchen and counters in the barn (including small coffee pot, very basic utensils, toaster oven, etc, and sink for washing up), plus full sized, shared refrigerator for storing a few provisions. This is a QUIET TRANQUIL forest campground. Families and nature lovers are welcome. NO PARTYING! Alcohol is OK but NO drunkenness! Illegal drugs are not allowed and no cigarette smoking. *Please keep your music in your headphones,* (unless you bring your guitar, no problem there). We are a quiet family, please be conscientious neighbors. If you enjoy trails, quiet walks, birdwatching, permaculture, and tranquility, we are a match. If you want to get drunk and be loud, please do not inquire. Trash should be minimal and you will need to pack it out with you.
We accommodate only one group at a time, so you'll enjoy having the place to yourself (with exception of our family occasionally leading goats along the trail from the barn to the farm field to graze, or so we might tend to veggies on the farm).
There is a large platform which can accommodate one large tent or two small tents, with 7 other spaces in the woods to accommodate larger groups. The base fee is for 1 person and one vehicle. Additional people and vehicles in your group (up to ten people and 4 vehicles in total) can be accommodated for an additional fee per person per night. Parking for larger groups available down the drive near the road.
For farm veggies or fresh chèvre (goat cheese), or to book a goat milking demo or permaculture farm tour, inquire upon arrival.

Beside it being the perfect spot to recharge yourself from all the stress of the everyday life. i really love how with just a small donation to host you can harvest anything that is ready in the farm, there's a perfect lil hiking trail just around the corner which i truly enjoyed its the perfect spot for a lil morning or afternoon hike.
Sparkroot is a place beyond words, nestled in hills, trees, wild things, and good people. To rest here is to lay your head amongst magic. To eat at this table is to taste what deep caring is. To speak with Alicia is to hear what sacrifice and duty can create. And to witness and work for a moment in their gardens is to feel what a village might be.
Alisa is such a kind host and very hospitable. There is a designated camping area right by the main house that is clearly marked with the bathroom/shower/check-in area nearby. It's a simple site for you to get away and enjoy being in nature with thoughtful touches in the common areas to help your stay be more comfortable. As a solo female camper, I felt very safe. Thank you, Alisa!
Thanks to Alisa for allowing us to stay at her camping site in Sparkroot farm. Camp sites are fine and the fact that they are next to each other didn't bother us because we were the only ones camping. They have a nice concept going on and it was nice to see her vegetable garden and interact with the goats. The site allows for walks within the property and the private roads of neighboring farms. This was a good but short getaway from the city. Nice fire pit!
Alisa greeted me and my family when we arrived and got us setup quickly. The energy I felt at Sparkroot Farm was as expected. As my sons and I were setting up camp my wife practiced yoga, inspired by the tranquil setting. The firewood I paid for was there by the firepit and Alisa told me where I could get more if I needed...she was very accommodating. We'll be camping here again.
This was our first experience camping at a Hipcamp site and it did not disappoint! The property was beautiful and Alisa was a very welcoming host. Our daughter especially enjoyed watching Alisa milk her goats and roaming around the beautiful farmland. We would love to come again!
