Selected by Outside Magazine as their Favorite Hipcamp in North Carolina and a Hipcamp Finalist in N.C. 2020, 2021, and 2022 and runner up best treehouse in 2023, you can choose among three separate and memorable experiences in our 8 acre compound: 1) a woodsy, peaceful glamping experience with million dollar views in an 6 person tent;; 2) a glampingTreehouse with W/C; and 3) the newly built 2BR 1 1/2 BA private annex to our house. Each can be all yours - this is not a commercial campground. Explore the innumerable trails and waterfalls of the Smokies; fish in the Lake or numerous rivers and streams; swim in the Lake and at the sand beach down the road; rent a pontoon boat; travel the Blue Ridge Parkway; enjoy the shopping and restaurants of nearby Cashiers and Highlands. Or just chill out. These are truly unique high altitude sites with amenities you won't find elsewhere. Both are in a gated "subdivision" that has 60 lots but only 8 houses - the rest is woods and the only place in your vicinity is our cabin. With unmatched mountain and western views, if you like the great outdoors on the mountain and in the woods, This is the place for you and your family. If you like a more camping style with tent (provided), covered camp kitchen, table and firepit ( along with the uncovered ones) check out Smoky Mountain High. Don't like tents? No problem. Check out our Treehouse with kitchen, bunks, grill, cooktop, heaters, W/C and more. Prefer indoor rustic luxury? The Glenville Aerie (4100') is a fully furnished, annex we built for our family, guests and friends who value their privacy. Walkie-talkies to facilitate mountain communications. Board games too. Access to our dock, canoes and kayak? Yep. Adult life preservers provided. Secret nature trail to our kids playground and trampoline. Hammock, kid's swing, hanging chair and dining for 6. Visit with Jake the Cat and our chickens. This area is truly one of a kind spiritual respite. These mountains are justly known for hiking, fishing, water sports, chilling out and forgetting about the Virus, politics and the nuisances of the workaday world. Our goal is to provide you and your family with an unforgettable and magical N.C. mountain experience, while reducing your blood pressure.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN HIGH(4100')
The site was absolutely amazing. There is so much room and plenty to see and do. Every detail has been well thought out. We never considered it possible that we would be able to watch television in a tent in the mountains. When things went south for us due to equipment malfunctions of our gear, Peter, our host, offered us the option to stay in the beautiful Glenville Aerie annex. We were blown away by this hospitality and kindness. The accommodations were amazing with beautiful views of the mountains and Lake Glenville. Again, the same care was evident with every detail well thought out. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at any of Peter’s listings.

GLENVILLE HIGH TREEHOUSE (4000')
10/10 stay!
My fiancé and I’s stay at glenville treehouse was amazing! It was a great experience and the views were breathtaking. It dropped down to the 30’s on our first night but we slept just fine with the heaters in the bedroom. Only 30ish min from Highlands, NC so we went into town for the afternoon but cut it short bc we were itching to get back to the treehouse to hang out. Peter is a great host with clear instructions and fast communication. We can’t wait to come back!

GLENVILLE HIGH TREEHOUSE (4000')
Peter's land includes amazing views at 4200'! The accommodations were great. We ended up staying in the Aerie, which was best with weather. It is a perfect setup for a family of 4. We will definitely be returning!

Cabin top of the hill 4100’
Peter was a great host! We arrived to the Treehouse but the water heater broke down and we got upgraded to Glenville Aerie 4100’. What an upgrade! We had the best time here. The cabin was just opened and everything was brand new. The host thought of every detail we might need. The cabin is equipped with everything to make your stay comfortable. We will definitely be back. If you’re looking to spend some quality time, comfortable, cozy, happy, and with amazing views, choose this site. We were glad that we stayed here, it was super cold and as a Floridian you appreciate the fireplace and warm refuge in the cold haha. Thank you Peter for making it amazing!

Don’t Hesitate to Book!!
My college friend, Terri, and I had a fabulous weekend at Peter’s Hipcamp. Views were stunning and he’s been very intentional with the planning of the space. Mattresses on the bunks were comfy and the heaters were toasty. We had a little issue with microwave working and he had a new one there the next morning! And he even gave me half a dozen fresh eggs from his chickens, with which I made a fabulous omelet. Peter was very communicative and had excellent instructions re: operating the water. He has a great book of suggestions of things to do and suggested a hike close by for us with phenomenal views. If you’re thinking of booking this spot, don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed! It’s the very best Hipcamp I’ve experienced. 🏕️ I’m already planning another trip with my kids.
