Encased in tall, age old hardwood trees through which the light changes magnificently every hour of the day, you emerge onto 20 acres of pasture land amongst some of the most beautiful farmland in the Piedmont region. The property is on Cub Creek, an endangered Riparian buffer habitat for a mussel species, which feeds into the Tar River - part of the Pamlico sound. The creek is rushing, pristine and is audible from the property. Water level comes up about waist high at deepest dip! The crickets, birds & frog songs are amplified as surround sound. Stars are aplenty. Horses graze in one of the pastures. Winged birds soar above to find their kill. Come. Sit. Stare. Listen.
You can tent camp on the platform by the creek (more coming!) or on the grass, or in a RV or Camper.

This was a wonderful stop in beautiful country! Kristen was very welcoming, communicative and accommodating with my last minute booking. I opted for a hammock setup right alongside the creek - which was so soothing and peaceful. There was plenty of land to explore, photograph and hike around the following day - I even met 2 friendly horses! While I did not go out on my bike, Kristen said the area roads are great for biking around on.
Kristen's home and property are absolutely beautiful. I really love that she is utilizing her space to help her community and and all kinds of people (like us!) have a place that is relaxing and conducive for reflection and allows for reconnecting with nature. Very thankful to have found Kristen and Respite in the Round :)
