Welcome to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina!

Ashe County the coolest corner of NC.

We are offering a spot to pitch your tent on ridges with never ending views at an altitude of 3,400 ft.

Jefferson and Downtown West Jefferson are 10 minutes away, and Boone only 30 minutes south.

Shatley Springs Restaurant is 4 miles down the road, with a beautiful small town on West Jefferson to your disposal.

Camping Spots are both near some trees with great views. Firepits are available. Will show you where you can harvest your own campfire wood.

We have "Phoenix Vista" and "Tippidy Top" both with amazing views for tents, rv, campers, skoolie or van. Campsite #3 is our “Sunrise Oak” location on the big mountain, with a nice flat area near a large oak facing east with a wonderful view out east, set out in a field nearby a small patch of Christmas trees. Site #3 is only accessible with all wheel or 4wheel drive (do not book if you do not have 4wd). The new river is visible from the first two vistas

Features and Perks: You will have access to fresh spring water that we can harvest for you from a springs with your own containers with donations accepted.  The farm on the property is off the grid and aiming for sustainability so we are happy to share produced products. Here on the farm we produce Grassfed-Grassfinished Highland Premium Beef (ground, steaks, discuss when you arrive onsite), Chicken Eggs (always free ranging, non-gmo and soyfree a dozens for $5 donation each dozen).

If you are interested in meeting our majestic Scottish Highland calves and bovine please do ask, might be possible!

*Please, we ask that you visit using an all wheel drive or 4wheel drive vehicle since you will be climbing 500 ft to the west top and the right of away is a bit bumpy. If you visit us in a non 4wheel drive vehicle you may could make it on a dry day, but worst case is you could be ferried up by us to your site, and the walk back to your vehicle to your car is all downhill. But we may not be available to ferry you back up right away. **As winter approaches be sure to check weather in 28617, ask me what I think about the upcoming days and I will fill you in with our local weather movements on the ground here. Campsites #1 and 2# has a chance to get a bit windy on the mountain tops as the season shifts towards winter so please be prepared. Thanks!!

From the moment we arrived, Jonny’s Mountain top farm far and above exceeded our expectations. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys speckled with bright wild flowers took our breath away. I was tent camping with my 10 year old cousin and it was a delight for us both. Chickens (with eggs to spare), cats, horses, piggies, and a dog named Max kept us company the whole time. And Jonny couldn’t have been kinder. The views alone were rewarding but Jonny’s passion and care for his livestock made it all the more special. I’ve stayed at 7 or 8 hipcamp sites around the country and this one was by the best. We will definitely return!

This was my first Hipcamp experience, and I’ll say the bar has been set extremely high! Between 2 Locusts is truly one of a kind. Jonny (our host) was kind, extremely helpful and mindful of giving us our privacy (although we could have talked to him for hours!). My friend and I camped in a grove of trees atop a mountain with 360 views of the Blue Ridge mountain range. We had a firepit, a boxful of firewood, a natural stone bench and plenty of trees to hang hammocks. Jonny’s farm is perfectly located between three gorgeous NC state parks – New River, Mt. Jefferson and Elk Knob. It’s an ideal spot to stay and hit all three. (Which we did!) We’re so fortunate to live in a state with breathtaking scenery from the mountains to the sea. Jonny’s committed to doing his part to preserve this treasure for generations. And, he’s allowing us the privilege of having a front row seat to North Carolina’s famed Blue Ridge mountains. I’m coming back for an encore! Thank you so much~
