With acres of lush wildflower filled pasture & serene forests that cool & delight your senses you may feel like your in a wondrous dream. One where apples fall, deer prance & the bonfire crackles underneath the grandest canopy of stars. Singular camping is available in various areas of "The Dish" The Dish refers to the pasture that forms a natural amphitheater. It expands upon acres & acres of grass, Queen Anne's Lace, Black-Eyed Susans , Cone Flowers & is backed by a beautiful tree lined forest. The sky opens up & with no light pollution you are in celestial heaven, so bring your sky gazing blanket or camping chairs. Wild flowers, apple trees, the community camp fire area & a large open stage reside in The Dish. The stage is where children craft, music comes to life & we create special moments. Our open kitchen is a place where we welcome folks to greet one another & where we can offer advice on the best hikes & swimming holes. Here you'll meet other campers, plan your day & make long lasting connections. Extended camping areas offer a more communal experience with tent villages. These areas are level & are tucked in on the outskirts of The Dish. Some are in the garden area, some in the pasture by our early 1900s cabin, others around the medicine wheel. While you will be close to your neighbor you will still maintain a spacious tent site. There is not a bad seat in the house as they say. Portable toilets are your go to spot, to go. These are refreshed for each event & can be found on either end of The Dish for your convenience. You may rinse & bathe in a nearby stream or down at the beautiful 75 foot waterfall we affectionately refer to as Haganaga. Haganaga means where the sky & the earth make love & it's title will not disappoint. At the right time of day the rock face of the Haganaga will dance with rainbows. And if you find yourself underneath it's breathtaking waters you'll will be entirely encircled in a rainbow. We encourage you to bring items to share during your stay if inclined. Frisbee, hacky-sack, yard games of all kinds, instruments, arts & crafts, yoga mats & skill sharing are welcome as spontaneous creativity & fun are always near. Please bring ample drinking water, food supplies, cooking equipment & camping gear. And remember to pack in & pack out in respect for one of the most glorious places on earth. Join us High Upon the Dragon's Back.

It offered a perfect top-of-the-world vista for eclipse viewing. And a nice waterfall to soak in. But this is a brand new enterprise for these guys and they are still figuring it all out. As advertised, there is no running water, and most of the tent sites are not level.

How do you describe indescribable moments? Two days ago we booked a place, expecting a simple camp site and instead found ourselves surrounded by beautiful people welcoming us to be a part of their family. Tucked away about an hour from Asheville, it's a little tough to find but worth it when you do. There's an open air kitchen, stage for hanging and music, a 15 minute walk to a beautiful waterfall and 5 minute walk to a beautiful panoramic view of "the dragons back" -rolling hills and trees on trees What a magical, life changing weekend.

Wonderful, beautiful setting far from civilization. Hosts were very welcoming. We had a great time on eclipse weekend 2017!

This place is an absolute must for those with the right mindset, meaning you understand that you carry in/carry out, and you do not expect hot showers and such. There's something magical about this place!

Worst camping experience ever. Host never stayed on his listing that he was having a band play outdoors until 1 am. Partying and yelling continued on until 3 am. No responses to requests for quiet so our children could sleep. Ruined the eclipse for kids and I we were so tired from extreme noise night before and night after.
