Medicine Bear Camp Big Laurel Creek
Fully immersed in nature
It was absolutely beautiful, and Steve was an incredibly accommodating host. I absolutely will stay again. I will say, be sure to bring a 4WD vehicle to make it to the bottom of the hill unless you are able to handle a very steep (though short) hike.

Medicine Bear Camp Big Laurel Creek
What an amazing spot! Perfectly secluded waterfront camping unlike anything we’ve experienced at a traditional campground. I will say, the hike down is incredibly intense. We are experienced hikers and campers and found this to be a serious challenge. It’s very steep, so be prepared. I’d suggest packing as light as possible, and only carrying the bare necessities. We had a 6 person tent and it barely fit. I’d say a two or four person tent max for this area, a hammock tent would be more ideal. Overall excellent experience, despite the strenuous hike in and out to the site. I do think Steven offers a off road vehicle to help with this, I’d suggest taking full advantage of whatever help he can offer.

Medicine Bear Camp Big Laurel Creek
Nothing what i thought it would be
Don't bother bringing a camper, because rebel road is the worse part of the trip, maybe its right or someone's drive way, very confusing directions Solar was useless due to weathet, host requested no generators so battery died during the night so fridge was dead. The shower and bathroom and water is in hosts house at top of hill, no im not using strangers bathroom. Some people loved this place, sorry not me..

Steven’s place was an awesome part of our trip to Asheville / Marshall. While it’s way out there and a hike down to the campsite- it is so worth it! Steven was an amazing host and was available and accommodating to whatever we needed. Communication was great and I would absolutely return!! Can’t wait for the next trip!
