The Linville Gorge Wilderness Area, also known as the Grand Canyon of the East, is one of the wildest, most rugged gorges in the eastern United States. It's an outdoor paradise for hikers and backpackers. Our other favorite spots in the Linville Gorge include hikes to the top of Table Rock and Hawksbill mountains, the overlook at Wiseman's View and hikes at Linville Falls. This campsite was just as perfect as could be; great fire pit, plenty of wood provided, a platform for your tent, and a picnic table made it very hospitable. Pam and Christian did everything possible to make sure it was well kept, private, and easy to find. The property has river access, which my dog found very enjoyable. At night you can hear frogs, crickets, and other animals. The hiking nearby is out of this world! I’ll certainly be back.
A north carolina gem
We had a wonderful time! It is truly a beautiful space and amenities. Fire was set up for when we got there. The river was nearby and awesome to hike to. Also a delightful field to wake up to in the morning. The lake is right nearby and some awesome recreational activities as well.
Camping at Linville River Pasture was excellent! Thanks to Christian and Pam, plenty of firewood, nice short walk through their property to the Linville River. Really liked the wooden tent platform. Very close to public boat launch on Lake James, Pinnacle trailhead, and Wolfpit trailhead in National Forest, the Fonta Flora Brewery-Whippoorwill Farm, and State Park. So much to do here. We hope to come back soon.
You’re nestled up under the tree line with a front view of the pasture. Behind the pasture is a dirt road with about a 5 minute walk to the river stream, where we spent most of our time fishing, swimming and relaxing. Water shoes might help navigate the underwater rocks. We went on July fourth so we expected the fireworks and neighbors being up a little later than usual, but we still felt secluded. All in all a wonderful stay!
