Welcome to Kohler Farms-A Shire Horse Breeder (please LIKE us on Facebook-it is a great way to see the property).

NOTE: Solo travelers and families: This is a very private and safe place to camp! You will be alone in the space the entire time but my family lives on the premises so we are here in case of an emergency. You can camp knowing you are safe!

PROVIDED: +Plenty of Firewood +Plenty of Kindling +Large Garbage Can (please bring your own bags) +5-Gallon Bucket +Adirondack Chairs +Restroom (NO Shower)

We own 35 acres and your campsite (The Grassy Knoll) is right in the center. The Grassy Knoll is about 2-3 acres. You cannot see my home from the road. When you arrive, you will pull to the front of the house and I will greet you and give you a tour. You will drive past the house, down the hill, and park on a gravel spot and walk into the Grassy Knoll. You can drive right up to your camping spot in the Grassy Knoll if you prefer. You are surrounded by trees but the Grassy Knoll is mowed and large.

There is plenty of room for outdoor games (soccer, corn hole, Frisbee, croquet, etc.). The creek runs next to you. The creek is not real deep so it is perfect for kids to play in. Some have strung their hammocks across the creek and napped listening to the sound of the water running over the rocks. Others have sat an Adirondack chair in the creek and soaked their feet while reading their latest book.

The horses will be grazing across the creek from you. Our horses are Shires! The Shire horse is a draft horse and listed as the tallest horse breed in the world. Be sure to say hello to them! WATCH YOUR FEET!

There will be plenty of firewood for you stacked up. I pile the kindling on your fire spot so that is always ready to be burned! We keep a small wagon filled with kindling so it is always easy to start a fire.

Enjoy yourself! If you have an emergency, we are always home!

Be sure to post your pictures so others can see how you enjoyed your time at Kohler Farms!

Most Sincerely, Dayla & Denae

If you're trying to meet the friendliest hosts in Nc, don't look any further. This farm is beautiful, and tucked away about 25 minutes from Winston Salem! And don't get me started about those beautiful horses. My fiancé and I are scared of horses and we conquered that with their horses! They're so friendly and fine to just walk around with! Definitely stay at this beautiful horse farm!

Nice creek right next to the campsite!Look at that view of the NC mountains!Plenty of room to make ourselves at home.morning sunrise at camp.

Thank you for the amazing compliment about our Farm and our horses. As you can tell, we spend a lot of time with our horses so they are more like big dogs! We hope you are able to visit us again. Happy Travels!

On a road trip south we decided to camp overnight at Dayla's farm. It was super last minute and Dayla was incredibly accommodating communicating quickly when we arrived later than planned. The farm is great it has a cute little brook between the horses and the campsite and at night we could hear them running in the distance. Dayla was great and took the time to teach is a bit about the Shire horse breed and it's history while also leaving us alone to sit around the fire which she had prepped with sticks and wood. We would highly recommend.

My dog Izzy and I had a wonderful stay at Kohler Farms. Dayla was a great host and very attentive to making sure I had everything I needed. The farm is a beautiful and peaceful setting and I just loved being around those sweet Shires! I even got to see the new baby foal. I would come back again for sure!
