The vibe at Swim the Beautiful Ivy River
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We had a great time at this site! There is plenty of level space to choose from: right below a big hill, out in the open, even next to the river. We of course gravitated to the water and decided to make our camp next to a big stack of firewood. Our spot was only about 15 feet from the water and we could hear the sound of it rushing by us all night - so peaceful!!!!
We had so much quiet out there at this site. It's not too far of a drive from Asheville so you still have access to a lot of the attractions there, but it's far enough off the beaten path that we literally only saw two cars the entire time we were there. If you like to fall asleep to the sounds of nature, this is a good spot for that!
As far as activities, the river is quite clear and though the water was rushing by pretty fast, it was fairly easy to get into and wade around in. Bring your Chacos or water shoes since there's a good bit of rocks to contend with - and enjoy! Our dog loved it too, she was able to go swimming and had a blast splashing around.
We recommend this place if you're looking for water access, peace and quiet and access (30 minute drive) to Asheville!
Camping next to the river was great. Perfect place to cool off and escape the summer heat. The site is right off of a gravel road that's used by a few of the neighbors, so you will encounter people driving by on occasion, but they were of no bother to us!
We had such a wonderful time at this campsite. The area is beautiful and being near the water is super peaceful. Also, Julie was super easy to communicate with and was very accommodating and sweet! It's near Weaverville, which has a cute little downtown if you need a meal out!
Was able to camp about 15 yards away from the river and listen to the current the entire night. Site is very secluded except for a gravel road through the middle which a hand full of cars went down. Would definitely go back again. Host was very nice and responsive to phone calls
While I imagine this place is beautiful in the summer, we spent the night in November. It was cold, the ground was damp, and there was no foliage.
Our host was pretty hands off, we pulled up to the field, found a spot to park and called it home for the night.
Not much for being remote, its more of a field in a ravine between houses.
We spent a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend at the "Swim the Beautiful Ivy River". Deer made their way to the creek every morning. Plenty of dead fall/driftwood for campfires. Julie was very communicative and answered all of our questions. She has a great piece of property.
