Come experience our beautiful, hand painted canvas Tipi on our private mountain top!

Enjoy the incredible views of the Great Smoky Mountains, with amazing sunsets, while enjoying our swing-bench and fire pit lounge. There is truly a peaceful feeling up here, as you watch the birds gliding in the sky and at night you will feel as if you could touch the stars.

The drive up to the site requires AWD or 4WD, but there is space for two cars to park at the bottom, with a short, steep walk up (less than 200 yards total).

The tipi offers room enough for two-three air mattresses (you must provide your own mattress and bedding) Additional campers may set up extra tents. (Site will accommodate up to 2-3 extra tents.) A water jug with locally-sourced spring water with hand pump will be provided for hand washing, cleaning up and doing dishes. A rustic but environmentally friendly and clean outhouse with a composting toilet is located on site. We provide basic dishes and a couple of pots and pans upon request of the guest. The site has a large fire pit and an outdoor charcoal grill for cooking. Wood and charcoal need to be provided by the guest or we can provide it for an additional fee.

Interested in exploring? Or interested in cooling off and cleaning up? Follow our map into our waterfall-filled valley (approx. a 2 mile drive from Tipi Site) in the valley you can take natural shower with spring fed waterfalls or a cool dip in the creek at our private Indigo Eagle Water Falls.  The valley offers other hiking trails featuring more waterfalls, picnic areas and relaxing forest environment.

Indigo Eagle Sanctuary Sites are located within a few miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Reservation and Maggie Valley,  a quaint mountain town with shops, food, and entertainment.

The campsite is beautiful, private, and the view of the mountains is incredible. The tipi is very cool but it is quite open to the elements so you need to be ready to rough it. Be sure to bring in your own water, food, blankets and pillows. The directions are tricky once you get onto the road, we missed the office with the mailbox the first time so we got lost and had to backtrack. Once you get to the mailbox, pay attention to the handwritten directions, they are very helpful. Overall it is a really cool site and I would visit it again.

This exceeded expectations! I was a little nervous at first about getting up to the site, but my VW Tiguan (front wheel drive) made it up without a problem. My dogs and I set up and had the best time! I’ve had so many compliments on my trip- hopefully many new campers coming your way!

We had a great time at the eagles nest!!! Our grandchildren loved the tepee. Most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen(picture posted). Getting to the site was a bit tricky.
