The vibe at Well know secret just outside town
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
On a recent road trip, Caroline and I stopped at the Homestead Asili. Located in the town of Woodleaf, North Carolina, it’s only about an hour north of Charlotte. We think it’s a great spot for a little weekend getaway, especially if you’ve been putting a lot of time in the city.
Emanuel, the host, is super friendly and happy to show you around his property. He’s got about 18 acres of land for you to choose from. Some of his favorite spots are just a short walk from where you can park. They’re flat, mowed and near a stream. There’s also some really beautiful mature trees for you to string up a hammock or seek shelter from the sun.
We found his land to be beautiful and peaceful. If you’re interested in homesteading you should know that he had some baby micro greens growing, had a bit of homemade kombucha in the works and is raising ducks, chickens, two kinds of pigs and is expecting sheep any day!
We got to meet some of his animals and they were so sweet. We absolutely fell in love with the pigs - they’re faster than we realized and super cute!!! If you go, hopefully you’ll be able to watch them chase each other around the field.
If you’re looking for a quiet and private place in central North Carolina, on which to pitch your tent or park your RV, this is it!
Such a great host! I was met when I arrived, shown around and was able to pick where I wanted to camp. Emmanuel then mowed the area very quickly since the spot I chose hasn’t been used recently. This was my first hipcamp experience and I had a great time. A very quiet spot, felt like I was miles away from anything! I will definitely be back!
This weekend trip was booked somewhat last minute on a whim and we could not have been more pleased. We were met on site by the owner who was genuinely friendly and accommodating. He directed us to the best spot for set up, mowed the area flat, provided us with firewood gathered for the first night, a heavy tarp for the foundation and portable commodes. He was knowledgeable, giving insider tips and told us of the history of the land. We were encouraged to explore all of its wonders. He raises animals on the land as he farms, and we were welcomed to go meet the animals. There's a beautiful creek that runs through the property, easily accessed and scouted.
Our position was nestled back in a field, encircled by trees with a wide, clear view of the night sky. Through the entirety of our visit, we felt at peace, secure and secluded.
We will absolutely return.
