If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
As I was driving up to the property, I was prepared to ask the hosts where was the best place to get a view of the mountains in the area - until I arrived. I quickly realized that it was right there in front of me. Cloud and fog covered mountains greeted me as such as I pulled up to the courtyard of the property. Nicole and her husband have to be some of my favorite Hipcamp hosts so far. Both are very accommodating, friendly, and easy to talk with. Nicole and I shared some great conversations while she showed me around the farm and discussed her future visions for how she would like to see the farm grow. She hopes to add suites and full bathrooms in the now empty barn stalls, but for now, the stall make a great spot for a campsite when the weather is not cooperating (and it's located close to the port-a-potty). Currently, they have a menagerie of rescue animals: two donkeys, too piggies, two llamas, a handful of goats and chickens (that are free range on the farm). The views are constantly awe-inspiring and when the weather permits, you can see views of Cold Mountain! There are several spots great for camping and can accommodate any size of group.
We had our best Thanksgiving ever, hanging out with Nicole, Joe and Brian on their farm. As we pulled up we got a really warm welcome and the grand tour from Brian, who talked us through all the best spots to set up camp for the sunrise over the Blue Ridge Mountains, or to watch sunset over the alpacas, or even to nestle ourselves under the shelter of their huge horse arena (we opted for a view of Cold Mountain at sunrise). Then Brian set us up with water, electricity and even started our fire (he provided enough wood for us to keep it going for 2 days in the frosty Thanksgiving chill).
During our stay, Nicole, Joe and Brian gave us the perfect mix of feeling completely welcome as part of their community (coming and going to share a glass of wine or toast a marshmallow with us) but also giving us space and privacy so we still felt like we were camping in the mountains of North Carolina.
Worth noting, depending on what you're after, that the farm is in a rural neighborhood, so you're up in beautiful scenery but your still close to stores and amenities and there is cell service.
Goodyacre Farm was an excellent experience. Many camp areas to choose from and a great view of the mountains. We only had the pleasure of staying one night but enjoyed a camp fire and Nicole and her Husband Joe were very helpful and answered any and all of our questions. Our group also enjoyed the animals and learning more about the hemp farm. We will definitely be back!
