The property Matt and his son Cole have acquired has had an interesting past. Almost turned into a development in the past, Matt's goal is to keep the land as natural and pristine as it is now, with the amenities every camper would love to have in the great outdoors. His future plan is to set up 12 private yurts for people to enjoy. Roughly being about an hour West of Asheville located in Nantahala National Park, this location is destined to be a fantastic spot. For now, Matt is working on landscaping the area and is all set up for campers equipped with their own camping gear. Matt will be the first to tell you that 4WD is a necessity to get to some of the locations on his property as it gets pretty dicey; but there are accessible spots in case you are without. The property is close enough to Sylva for anything you might need, such as restaurants or grocery stores. Matt was a fantastic and friendly host that I enjoyed spending time with and learning about his plans for the property. I definitely recommend this property and can't wait to see how Matt's plans unfold!
Wow!!!! Matt and his property were exactly what we were looking for. The property is full of trails and beautiful perfect spots to setup for a relaxing fun filled camping experience. Whether you want to be on top of the ridges or down by the river each area has its own unique beauty. We spent the weekend atop the highest ridge enjoying the views and seclusion that came with it. We will be making return trips to experience all the property has to offer. Matt was fantastic and very accommodating. If your looking for a private spot with amazing surroundings and a cool down to earth host this place can’t be beat!!! Thank you to Matt and Destination Outdoors! DO IT! for an amazing weekend of peace and quite that was truly needed. See you again soon!!!!
What a beautiful place to camp and play! Matt, our host, was the awesome sauce host with the most! He made us feel welcome and comfortable and happy and he's such a happy soul, it was great to meet him. He has done a lot of work on his land and it shows. Awesome camp sites in the beautiful North Carolina mountains. Do it! You won't be disappointed!! THANK YOU to Matt! You rock! Your land rocks! Woot!!! :)
Matt is a great host. He's responsive and was ready to greet us upon arrival. It was raining the first night we got there so he offered for us to spend that night in the yurt. It was an unexpected and welcomed surprise. There's plenty to do on the land: Hike or drive down and along the river and/or up and around the ridge top. The land is relaxing, magical, and both the yurt and ridge top offer great views. Definitely recommend checking it out.
