Chrysalis Earth Farm is a small farm in Balsam, NC that grows vitality-filled foods and medicines through earth honoring agricultural practices. We use no synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, and although we are not certified organic, our practices are "beyond organic." We primarily use hand tools, practicing no-till methods, creating hand-dug beds, allowing soil to grow and thrive. We are crafting a system that is less reliant on fossil fuels, can generate many of its own input needs, and provides abundant health to ourselves, our human community and our ecological community. Chrysalis Earth Farm is home to a number of humans including a 2 year old, as well as a flock of Welsh Harlequin ducks, several dairy goats, two farm dogs and a cat. Slow living at its best

We’ve had an amazing time here! The hosts are super welcoming and the ducks are too cute. This was one of the most relaxing trips we’ve had!

Tiptoe through the Garden

My girlfriend and I had a great time camping on the farm. Candace is a great host and her son, Sequoia even helped us set up our tent. Although I do love cooking over a fire when camping, the outdoor kitchen was super convenient and a cool little spot to unwind. The dogs even paid us a visit which is always a bonus. If you're driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, staying here is a no-brainer. Thanks again, Candace.

Wild and woodsy

Candace was very friendly and her son Sequoia is a super precocious, friendly little guy. The farm is beautiful and has ducks walking around freely. I will say that it was an extremely rustic experience. Tons of bugs and animal noises at night, and you have to be prepared to hike through some really tall grass and weeds to get to the tent site. Overall it was a cool experience.

My partner and I are in the process of moving from Philly to LA via road trip. We stopped for a night at Chrysalis Earth Farm, and despite our late timing (we arrived at 11pm), Candace was warm and accommodating. The Farm is beautiful and quiet, with excellent views of the stars at night. I loved all the farm animals and enjoyed talking with the host family. Would recommend if you're looking for a place to rest your head and you've brought a tent.

Great place - would highly recommend :) Candace, Justin and Sequoia were lovely! There was an outdoor kitchen that we could you use, and we had some duck eggs, which were delicious. The campsite is by a stream with great views of stars in the night. Also - the whole place is right by the Blue Ridge Parkway with access to hikes. Thanks so much, Candace, would definitely love to come back!
