Trailside Mountain Retreat
Great spot for hiking
Super friendly and a great spot to go on hikes from. A beautiful hiking trail walking distance from the location but also right near the Blue ridge parkway with loads of hiking spots minutes away by driving. Highly recommend.

Quiet and Serine Camping
It was the most amazing camping site that my wife and I have ever stayed at. Jennifer and her daughter were the nicest people you can ever hop to meet. I recommend staying here 100%!!

Trailside Mountain Retreat
Beautiful, comfy campsite
This is a GREAT campsite. The kitchen, bathroom, and tent platform in the woods really take this site to the next level. Just the right amount of “luxury” for my taste. Although there are houses in the area, it felt at least as secluded as a typical campground. AND we got to see the Blue Ghost Fireflies. So beautiful!

Trailside Mountain Retreat
Scheduled 4 nights & left after 2
The owner was nice enough, but the camp area was gravel and did not really have a great tent site. There was a platform for camping down the hill about 30 steps, but we didn't have stakes for the platform and the trail going down to it was covered in poison ivy and really was not a great option. The water sound was wonderful and we got to see blue ghost fireflies and that was great. Jennifer and her daughter were at the site 2 nights in a row until at least 10:30 at night and she actually had friends over the second night that we certainly didn't know were coming. The kitchen area was great and you could do dishes and sit at a table and thar was great, but she cannot even claim that there is hot water as the "solar water heater" was nothing more than a pvc pipe that was barely spray painted black and it did not even get in the sun until 1 pm and was out of the sun quickly and never got hot at all. My daughters and I decided that we would just stay out later to avoid the owner coming down and hanging out. I wanted a quiet time to hang out with my daughters and that is really why we thought this would be a good option as it was not a busy campground, but we didn't get much alone time at all. The 3rd day, I got a text that said that she had come down and put out my "smoldering fire", which is fine, but then she said we could not have a fire anymore unless she was there. The issue that I had with this was not the fact that she didn't want us to have a fire, but...

Trailside Mountain Retreat
We loved our stay here! It was the perfect retreat with such a nice set up!! The kitchen area was clean and well stocked, bathroom was super clean, the area where we set up our tent was on a raised platform with the river running by, and the fire pit was so nice especially with all the extra fire wood and kindling. Would 100% recommend!
