The Blue Ridge Campground is located 3 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway on McKinney Mine Road in Little Switzerland. We are next door to North Carolina’s premier gem mining attraction, Emerald Village, and its North Carolina Mining Museum.  We are a small family owned campground currently offering 7 primitive tent camping sites. Our sites are private and wooded, nestled among Hemlock, Beech, Oak, and Rhododendron forests. Our property boasts an amazing variety of plant life - giant Ferns, Butterfly Weed, Milk Weed, Trillium, Mountain Laurel, Bee Balm, mosses, mushrooms, and wildflowers galore! Try an organic apple off our heirloom tree in season! We encourage exploration and conservation of our natural wonders, and invite our campers to explore our property and pond.  Sunsets tend to be beautiful here when viewed from any of the more open areas on our property.  Many of our campers remark on how quiet it is and how many birds and crickets they can hear!  Our restroom and shower (with hot water) are located at our main office/shop building, a short walk down the driveway from this spot. We have drinks, bagged ice, firewood, and some basic camping supplies for sale upon request. Pets are allowed if they are well-behaved, restrained, and are not left unattended.

Our Whitetail Forest Cabin (Number 3 site) is a rustic shelter - floors, roof, walls, open doorways and window, situated within a wooded area of our campground property. The site has a graveled tent pad, picnic table and fire ring, and a good stack of wood for campfires!  Easy gravel road access and within short driving distance of a general store, coffee shop, museums, waterfalls, hiking trails, and lots of awesomeness to explore!

Quiet and great sites. The grounds were very well taken care of. The bathroom and showers were very clean.

We would return! The community is small and it takes time to travel if you’re planning on exploring. Prepare well, because the closest store (for food) is approximately 25 mins away. Check in at the front before searching for the camp site. We were not provided accurate information on the reservation page. Overall, it was a great experience and we enjoyed the visit.

We arrived to find that there was only one other campsite booked at the time of our stay, so it felt very private and peaceful. The site was really well kept, with a new handmade picnic table and just the right amount of firewood stacked up for a fire that night.

The site was well shaded and allowed us to escape the heat. We were able to set up our hammock and kick back as the sun went down. The night was really peaceful and our 2 dogs loved getting to spend time with us outdoors.

The grounds were well kept with an abundance of wildflowers in bloom. We very much enjoyed our stay at Blue Ridge Campground and would definitely return.

View of our campsite.Relaxing at camp. There were beautiful wildflowers all over the property.Getting the fire started.
