An entire vacation in one spot!
An entire vacation in one spot! We brought our RV and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hiked to two waterfalls, swim in the swimming hole, saw majestic views, caught trout and enjoyed peaceful nights! Perfect for families and so many things to do in one place. We loved it!
Great site w/ electricity & showers
Great campsite! There’s only a handful of sites and there were about 5-6 RVs there (1 long term). I only saw other people only once or twice and they all seemed super nice. I was allowed to pick where I wanted my tent setup and I chose the ones at the far end close to the woods and a couple trees. The others were a bit more in the open. Having electric and water at the site is super nice and the newly built bathrooms were convenient and the water was hot for me and my friend. The first night it poured down rain (testing out the waterproofing on my new tent) and since the second day also called for rain, we explored the fun antique shops and a really awesome architecture salvage store. We didn’t get a chance to play in the swimming hole but I did get to check it out before I left (all the more reason to come back!). We didn’t get a chance to go fishing either but saw lots of families taking advantage of the beautiful lake and the sunshine when we were leaving. On a side note, I had one bar of service with Verizon and that was good enough to text my family back home to tell them I was ok after the rains on the first night (as we know Mom’s can worry).
All in all, a great place to get outdoors without sacrificing the comforts of electricity and flushable toilets/hot showers. This would be great for a family and friends and even first time campers.
Perfect one stop shop with smiles
The staff were friendly. The kids loved it. The long hike trail around to the waterfall needs some attention but it was an enjoyable hike. The camp site was spacious and they brought up a picnic table, cards, and the other campers were so friendly. They have cabins right on the water and the swimming spot was great. Be prepared it was cold! You can get to the swim spot without hiking through the moderate hike through a bit of overgrown sections and the gem mine is cute and priced well. We did not get a chance to fish but our neighbor did and we got to taste it. The trout was delicious. There are only two bathrooms and showers so be prepared to time your visits, but even with a full camp ground we had no trouble using the facilities and appreciated the hot water. We will be back because it is an amazing little spot with so much in one location and close to other national parks and waterfalls. We have no complaints and even enjoyed the fact the hike was a bit challenging. We're a hiking and swim family and had such a wonderful time.
Definitely recomend this place its really close to everything and easily accessible. The campsite was well maintained and had full hookups. The drive in is a bit narrow for bigger RV'S but manageable. The one negative is the proximity to everybody else when all the sites are occupied. Other then that everything was great!
