There is a state gamelands across the river that has an access point a few miles by road. South Mtn state park is about 10 miles away. The cabin is 30' from the river. There is gold in the river if you know how to pan.

Serene mountain getaway with notes
Adin is the man! He's very kind and friendly, and obviously works hard to provide for his family. And his property....oh my goodness is it heaven on earth. Total property goals! The drive out is gorgeous, the river was perfect, and the privacy was 100%. The bed was pretty comfortable and the propane grill was a nice touch.
A few things to be aware of, that were not mentioned in the listing: The driveway to the cabin is more like an ATV trail that is steep, winding, and pretty narrow. We were fine in our Subaru, but 2wd owners and those that drive large trucks might get nervous. If you have AT&T, there is absolutely no service at the cabin. Perfect for us but maybe not others. The bathroom is TINY. Larger people will want to use the outhouse and outdoor shower. The water is pumped from the river and did not appear to be filtered. We happened to have a filter for backpacking with us, so it was fine (so far).
Our only complaint (and Adin, I know you're fighting for time with your mother-in-law being ill) was that the cabin was not clean and has a mouse problem. The floors had piles of dirt, sand, and food crumbs, and needed mopping badly. The kitchen drawers had food crumbs and mouse droppings in them, and we felt the need to wash everything before using the dishes. We dared not sit on the couch or chair, and the bed was questionably stained. Black Widow spiders were chilling in 3/4 corners of the window behind the bed. The most difficult thing was the overwhelming aroma of mouse urine and feces, particularly in the bedroom. Adin is trying to find a solution to this, and I agree that it's not an easy problem to fix, so there are no hard feelings. Just something to be aware of for future guests.
Thanks again Adin for an awesome weekend in the mountains! Be blessed!
